Roosevelt and Carnegie's push to Americanize English
addresst, blusht, comprize, deprest, fagot, gazel, kist, partizan, phenix, ript, snapt, thru, vext, winkt
examples of proposed simplified spelling of english words, for the purpose of making English a more user-friendly language for the entire world. while the majority of the more radical revisions (such as above) were never wholeheartedly adopted, the lack of "u"s in words like honor and color, as well as the de facto status of English as a common language in many places, fulfills the Imperial aspirations of these disgruntled non-Brits with a disdain for grammatical flourish.
