Oogie could physically see Shock shaking from the [ cold ]. He couldn't blame her--this dungeon was cold, dark, wet, and most of all, it stank. He had lost k n o w l e d g e of how long they had been trapped down there--he had lost count after a few weeks.
He couldn't take it anymore. Gathering enough courage, he stood up and walked over to the girl, sitting beside her and wrapping his arms around her.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Shock exclaimed, pushing away.
"Warming you up," replied Oogie gently, tightening his grip around her shoulders. She grumbled in protest, but did nothing further to escape his grasp. Maybe it was the cold, or maybe it was [exhaustion], hell, it could have even been resignation to the situation, but she accepted his offer and even rested her head on his shoulder.
He didn't understand what to do next. What could be said to add a light to this situation? And how could you even add light to [ two creatures ] who happily lived in the dark?
Oogie wasn't sure how much *time* they had left to live (sure they were fed, but that can only last you for so l o n g ), so he closed his eyes and said simply,
{ "I love you." }
It's sound was somewhere between a w h i s p e r and a whimper. He wasn't even entirely sure that he had said it aloud at all until Shock reacted with a simple, "What?"
He sighed deeply and rested his forehead against the side of hers, giving a light kiss to her temple. Oogie expected to get slapped, but he didn't care. He was too far gone to care what happened to him----
he only lived for her.
She pulled a w a y slightly and called him an -idiot-. She didn't know the half of it. He put himself out there and { gently pressed his lips against hers. }
