My problem is that the save isn't there.... so, I don't what I did wrong? The expansion pack is no longer in the system...
So, what do I do with the blurry textures? They're only blurry in live mode, in CAS it's alright.
I have my GraphicCards and GraphicRules edited for my card (nVidia GTX 970) so it should work okay.
Weird doctor career glitch (TS3)
So, fun fact about the real reason I had to have Don change careers - bc I know it might have seemed pretty sudden in the storyline
Basically, I got this super weird glitch where he was on call at the hospital 24/7, his shifts were never-ending, he only had time to come home and take a nap and then he was back at the hospital again!
So when I say that he didn’t have enough time to spend with his family, I mean that very very literally, he barely had time to eat and sleep - It was ridiculous. Every single night he was on call, and in my time playing TS3 I know that it was definitely not normal for him to be working that much
I’ve played with doctors before, and I’ve never had a sim be on call literally almost every hour that they’re not at work.
^ Him going to work for about the 10th night in a row being on call at 2am??
I tried everything to get rid of this glitch, moving to a fresh copy of the town, changing out the rabbit-hole hospital, resetting everything in the town, resetting don several times, but nothing would work for me. I think something was wrong with the sim himself, that career just got corrupted for him I guess.
So eventually I just had him become a teacher, that’s the reason it was so sudden, I had enough of trying to solve it and I gave up
As much as I researched into this problem I couldn’t find a single other person online who has had this glitch, which is annoying because I would love to prevent it happening in the future if possible! I really want to know what exactly went wrong which made this happen, so please pm me if you’ve had a similar issue or know what could have caused this, it would help me out massively :)
No more genetics from grandparents?
Do any of you know if there’s a mod for it or any other way to make the children inherit the genetics from their parents instead of their grandparents?
It’s getting really annoying in my Perfect Genetics Challenge, because almost all of Redwood’s children inherit the hair, eye and skin colour from Sheila, their grandmother. I would love to have some diversity in my game and see the genetics of Redwood and her partners passed on!
So if you can help me in any way, I would really appreciate it!
CC Glitch
so, i cant find search results for this anywhere BUT.
When i load the game some of my cc is just. completely red? no flashing. just red. i can use CAS and apply patterns and they show up fine but?
as far as ive seen its objects and build stuff, but not all of it
and they’re red in the catalog as well? i’ve remade my resource.cfc, checked my stuff with the dashboard, rebuilt my cc magic. . . . im so lost
and cleared caches obvi but uh
if anyone has any idea whats going on i would greatly appreciate help
Sims 3 Trouble with Hair Mask
I have a weird trouble with a couple of CC hair : the eyes are covered by the hair mask (and take color of the hair, actually), as in pictures #2 (Picture #1 is for reference to show you Annie’s eyes). I know it’s not due to the hair itself (made by the lovely Alexandra) because I was using this hair before and didn’t get this problem. See:
Any idea of what could cause this or suggestion to fix it? I fiddled with my graphic card settings without success (but without knowing what I was doing anyway...) I don’t find any other hair suiting Annie’s! :(

The Black Screen of Death and Other Problems.
This is a problem that I know a lot of Simmers have come across. I’m still not 100% sure I have a fix for it myself, but I know that the following tips have helped others solve the problem.
What happens?
You go into The Sims 3 Launcher and press play. The screen goes black as if the game is about to start. You may also have the spinning cursor. But the game doesn’t load. It just hangs on the screen forever. When this happens to me, it usually ends in me having to do a hard shut down on my laptop, as when I try to end the task in Task Manager, it doesn’t work. As soon as I move the cursor to Task Manager, the black screen comes up again and I literally can’t do anything on the computer. I know that doesn’t happen to other people, but that’s my personal experience with this problem.
Here are the solutions I have found.
Depending on the cause of your black screen problem, these steps might not work, but try them anyway, because it’s worth a shot!
Delete caches - You do this by going into Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3. Once there, look for the following files - CASPartCache.package, compositorCache.package, scriptCache.package, simCompositorCache.package, and socialCache.package. Delete these files! Don’t worry. This has no negative impact on your game. When you restart the game, these files automatically regenerate. I usually delete these files EVERY TIME before I start the game. This solves a lot of problems with the game, not just the black screen. You will see this solution mentioned many times on here, and on help forums. It’s tried and tested and often works like a charm!
Delete World cache - It’s important to note that you should only do this if you are playing on Windows. Do not do this if you use a Mac. Still in The Sims folder, you might have a folder called WorldCaches. Go into that folder and delete the files listed HERE. (If you want to be sure you are doing this right, read the page, or do some research of your own. I don’t know how this affects the game, as I’ve never done it myself. Not everyone has a WorldCaches folder, and I am one of those people.)
Delete Thumbnails - This is a relatively new discovery for me. There are two things you need to do. Firstly, in The Sims 3 folder, go into the Thumbnails folder and delete the CASThumbnails.package and ObjectThumbnails.package. (I am testing this for the first time today) Next, go into the FeaturedItems folder. There will be hundreds upon thousands of thumbnail images in there. You do not need these! All they do is clog up your game, and if you play the game while connected to the internet, they will be regenerated anyway. Delete all of them, before every time you play. An extra tip here is to disconnect from the internet before you launch The Sims 3. It will prevent these FeaturedItems thumbnails from being regenerated. I do this every time I play. The first time I deleted the thumbnails from FeaturedItems, I had over 2,000 of them!
Delete downloadedsims.index - Still in The Sims 3 folder, go into SavedSims folder and find the file downloadedsims.index. Delete that. I am only testing this today, but the person who posted this tip HERE says, “Remember to remove this often if it reappears in there due to you downloading sims from the web. This solved my problems 100%, have restarted my game 30 times since and not one black screen now!!!!”
Delete missingdeps.idx - In The Sims 3 folder, go to the DCCache folder. At the bottom, there should be a file named missingdeps.idx. Delete that. This is another one that regenerates itself, so make sure to delete it often. I do this before I play every time.
Empty your Recycle Bin - With all the files you’ve deleted, your Recycle Bin is likely to be bulging. Clear it out and this might improve game performance. The first time I tried this, not for my black screen problem, but to try and speed up loading time, it worked a treat! The game loaded super fast.
Play the game in Windowed Mode - I have not tried this, but I found out how to do it HERE. I am sure I’ll end up trying it some time.
Disable your Anti-Virus - Obviously, this one comes with a warning, and should be used at your own discretion. I couldn’t work out how to disable mine, but I know this has helped other people. McAfee seems to cause a lot of people problems, myself included. My personal problem with McAfee is that it takes up so much memory that it prevents The Sims 3 from loading, especially when it’s running a scan - in Task Manager, the Disk column lights up red and my whole computer is slow and freezes up temporarily. I would personally recommend that if you disable your anti-virus, that you keep the internet off, just to be on the safe side.
Bypass the launcher - This one really seems to work for me. Instead of entering the game via the launcher, go to My Computer (or whatever your equivalent file is called, mine is This PC) and go into C:, then Program Files (x86), then Electronic Arts, then The Sims 3, then Game, then Bin, then scroll down to find the file TS3W. Double click on that to launch the game. Be patient. Sometimes mine loads right away, but sometimes, it looks as if I’m having the black screen problem, but it has always loaded eventually. I usually go and do something else for a minute or two to stop me from panicking about it. When I come back, the game is loading and everything works fine.
Update your graphics drivers - I am not an expert in doing this, and have never done it on this laptop, which may indeed be causing my problems! Google how to do it, or ask someone for help who knows what they are doing. I think a lot of game problems happen because of outdated graphics drivers.
Delete screenshots and recorded videos - If you have a lot of screen shots and videos in your game, this can also cause things to run slowly. In The Sims 3 folder, go to Screenshots, and either delete the files, or move them somewhere else if you want to keep them. I have a folder on my desktop where I move my screenshots to on a regular basis.
That’s all I can think of for now. If I think of more, I’ll add them. You are also more than welcome to message me if you found a different solution that works for you, and I’ll add that also, and credit you. I know that these solutions are also good for fixing other problems, like game crashes, and lagging. It is always a good idea to clean up your game as when files build up, this all adds to making the game run slowly. I hope these solutions fix your problems! Let me know how you get on!
