#sims 3 settings

I got this comment from @immdreamz on one of my Pritchard posts and I thought it might be useful to answer it this way.

Here's my ts3 settings!

I truthfully can't tell the difference between Water & Super Water, or the difference in Tree quality and I'm not terribly bothered by the number of High Detail Lots or Draw Distance so I'm okay with having those slightly lower. I CAN tell the difference if I lower Sim Detail though so that is the main setting I must keep at the highest level.

Also before each time I play I change TS3W.exe to High priority in task manager as well as under Set Affinity ticking the boxes for CPU 1-10 of the total 19. When I started doing those two things eliminated 99.9% of lag so overall my game runs fabulously! 💪

That being said, the only major issue I have is the game consistently runs out of memory after about 2 hours of playing. 😅 I suppose that's the trade-off for my higher settings and 16GB of alpha CC. I just make sure that NRAAS Saver saves every 6 sim hours so that I never lose much when it inevitably crashes. And I regularly use Regul Save Cleaner and Master Controller Reset Everything as well as Error Trap, Overwatch etc. I do also have LazyDuchess' Smooth Patch.

But generally speaking, my ts3 game runs the best it's ever ran. Who knew $3000 laptops were worth it?

What age settings and season settings do you like to use?

I use a 120 lifespan: baby - 2 days, toddler - 7 days, child - 10 days, teen - 14 days, young adult - 38 days, adult - 34 days, elder - 15 days. Admittedly, the elder stage is pretty short, but I was traumatized in my very first legacy when, in elderhood, Jeffery Dean spent his nights wandering around Twinbrook because his wife (my generational heir) had another love interest.

My year length is the normal 28 days and the seasons are default, too, except if I play in a beach world like Sunlit Tides or Isla Paradiso. In those, I'll set spring, winter, and fall 3-4 days (just long enough to have a holiday and corresponding festival) and the rest of the year will be summer.

CTD Solved

So RAM was definitely my issue. I have maintained a very clean collection of CC since 2013 which I merge regularly so I was fairly confident that it was the quantity of CC vs bad CC. I installed another 16GB of RAM making my computers total 24GB and maxed out the sims game usage at 8GB. Before I was experiencing crashes every time a large lot had to render during live mode in medium to large worlds and sometimes even in CAS every single time I played. To the point that I made a blank world with nothing in it to do interior shots for houses and then didn't play. Now my load times are back under 2 minutes and my game is playing like an absolute dream with no render time, maxed settings, HQ mod @ 4K and 30GB of compressed CC into just over 250 package files. I cannot stress the benefits of having 8GB RAM dedicated to the game if you are a heavy CC user who also likes to play their game.
