PSA for Creators re: New Tumblr Desktop

I just want creators to be aware, that with the new tumblr desktop, the OG poster of the reblogged post may be entirely invisible without following back a chain of 'view previous reblog' until you can finally view the OG post.

This means that if your name isn't visible either in an image or in the text of the post itself, many may not realize who the creator is.

I often see things like: 'Created by me' or 'Converted by me', and now I have to tediously follow a bunch of links to see who 'me' is.

So I encourage all creators:

-Put your name in the file name of your creations.

-Put your name in an image or text on the post when you upload something to tumblr.

Because many either won't have the time, or won't take the time to figure out where their CC came from if it requires this much work to find out.

Honestly, the filename is the most helpful, for those of us who don't always immediately install things.

The Heir announcement

My recap posts are finished soooo I hope you all are ready for the new posts! Yes, you’ve read it right, I have new posts!

I’ve written those new posts months ago, but I’ve never had the guts to post them. First of all I was afraid tumblr would have banned me again and then I have this feeling that tells me I’ll ruin my own story, so that’s why I didn’t finish it yet.

I struggled a lot thinking if it worths being finished or not and thanks to my friends, I realized that I can do it and there’s space for every one of us in the community.

The Heir will be out, 1 post a day, at 7 p.m. (Central Europe timeline). It’s an adult story (=mature theme of any sort) so if you’re a minor or sensible, block the tag #the heir or unfollow me.

Holiday Love Meme - notice

It seems I’ve unknowingly been logged out of Dreamwidth all weekend and haven’t been able to unscreen comments. If you left one, it should be visible now. Thank you for spreading the love, everyone! Keep them coming. It’s also not too late to sign up. :)

I’ve tried to set the post to not screen anon comments, but it didn’t work for me, even after several attempts. I think the meme is working out okay with me unscreening them so far, but please let me know if something doesn’t show up after a day’s time.

Hi folks. I have to ask a favour from CC creators, especially those that use someone else’s art or patterns. I know a lot of you don’t bother asking permission to use those, but can you at the very least give these artists proper credit? 

It’s a huge pet peeve of mine seeing people ask for credit for their CC creations  (or charge for  it) but they won’t give credit to the artist they made their CC creations from.  

I’m not going to call specific people out anymore, but please think about this. You wouldn’t want people stealing your work either.

On a related subject related to the previous reblog, my Sims CC and inspo blog is @lululounge.  I do my best to avoid reblogging CC that uses adfly or other similar adlinks. I apologize if some of my older reblogs had those links, but I remove them when I catch them, and I’ll try to be careful in the future. 

BTW, when you’re monetizing Sims content, please remember, you’re actually monetizing the TIME it took to put together that content, as well as any original meshes and textures you create and own the copyright for (fun fact: 3D meshes you create in blender, and textures you create yourself from scratch, that  you don’t import into the Sims are your copyrights!) . So it is worth it to collect tips/patrons/wtv, but it should not be at the expense of website user experience.

Sims PSA: Pinning CC

Just a small note for anyone pinning sims content on Pinterest:

The URL you are viewing when you pin is what you will be linking to.

So if you’re viewing the content on your Tumblr dash or from the downloads tag on their Livejournal or something similar, be sure to view the specific entry before you pin it or you will be linking people back to your Tumblr dash or that entire LJ, etc.
