Strangetown, Here We Come: Re-released

After much effort, I've completely re-uploaded the images for SHWC on Dreamwidth. These were previously hosted on Livejournal and therefore unavailable to most viewers. You can find it all here:

I started this story in 2007, and it has been ongoing for 18+ years (with breaks along the way). Please keep this in mind if you are a newcomer to the story. It has changed and grown along the way, as have the characters. Mostly, it's a coming of age story, and a love story/stories.

New entries will be posted to Dreamwidth. With this out of the way, I'm back to working on future updates. I've got lots of stuff I'm looking forward to sharing.

I wanted an update of this scene for a flashback. It's from Chapter 31 (part3), just after Johnny learned that his father is dying. I remember the original was cropped that way to hide numerous sins in the posing. I have a better repertoire of poses to pillage from and combine, and better technique with that stuff in general. And how could I miss the opportunity to use the snapdragons to their best potential in this shot?

This makes me consider re-doing a couple of others that really didn't hit the mark, even at the time. There were many shots where I just did something, anything. I honestly respect that and need to harness a little more of past me's attitude in that regard. That said, I'm honestly very proud of myself for working pretty consistently, despite all the other stuff competing for my time.

I gave Paralives another shot, and in the wise words of my grandfather when opening a gift right in front of you: "It's nice, but it's no good for me."

At least not at the moment.

I'm not sure if I will use these. It's maybe a touch silly and cartoony for the moment (a flashback to their Three Lakes trip during a conversation that's more sad, wistful, bittersweet), but I do think it's a pretty accurate depiction of Ripp in that moment.

So I picked up Paralives, because I wanted to support them, and I might be able to putter around here and there. I think I'll make it depend on whether I got some work done on the story first.

I've reached a roadblock right away for me. You can't save the character creation while it is in-progress. For someone with very short windows of time and wanting to put a lot of detail into the character I'm making, this might prevent me from doing it at all. I guess I'll have to try some of the ones that are included. Not the worst thing, but you know I'd like to make my own.

Anyway, I sent it in as a suggestion. This is a problem for me with "playing" games in general. I just don't have the time in any one sitting these days. Such is life.

On a positive note, it was very easy to make a custom skintone. I made a good match for the TS2 alien green.

Getting covered in soil on a regular basis is immeasurably good for my mental health, which is good, because the end of the school year is absolutely gonna push my limits a bit.

Here are some of my screenshots I took while asleep.

The top one is probably the one I'll go with, but I like both of these. I had them posed already and a couple of camera angles saved. I had started a looping animation for each of them for the expressions. Then fell asleep and took screenshots, lol. While also switching the camera angles. These actions are very much muscle memory to me now. If only I could harness this somehow to do all the work while I slept...

Last night I was working on posing some scenes late at night after everyone was finally in bed. I had already taken my nighttime meds, which includes Seroquel/quetiapine. If you know, you know. I soon found myself drifting in and out of consciousness sitting up in my chair, and surprisingly... still taking screenshots.

So I guess I can now say that I have made sim stories in my sleep.

I've been working on this lot as a set for the story, along with a couple of others. As the scene involves walking along the city streets, I want a couple of different lots to switch between as I go.

I like this bar and music venue, as it will complement some of Jaxy's dialogue, regarding her sobriety and the importance of music in her life.

The lot is JCR's by @andrevasims, which I've been editing/decorating. I love this lot, as well as many others created by them, especially the urban stuff. I think I'll end up using another for earlier in the scene.
