I know this is a take some followers and mutual may find controversial, but actually from all the source material of spn I've seen, Wincest is canon.
Hear me out. I know, Dean is canonically straight. It contradicts with the notion of wincest, because it's easy to say “Dean is straight, Sam is a man, thus Dean doesn’t want him sexually” but excuse me. So much tension, early episodes. The jokes about being a married couple, the damn siren, Dean’s whole barn speech, all the borderline codependent things he says... So many wincest-y quotes come from Dean, no matter how you read these statements, they are full of longing for Sam. Fandom keeps joking about Dean wanting to crawl inside Sam, Demon!Dean would've possessed Sam because even having two separate bodies and two separate minds is too much of a hurdle for what Dean really wants. He wants Sam and this desire is so much beyond sexual, romantic or platonic, we’d have to invent a new name for it.
He wants Sam so damn much with every aspect of his being - you can’t come to my house and tell me this love is simply platonic and nothing more.
It’s obsessive and weird and way off the charts.
Actually becoming one would be the only solution for Dean’s craving of being united with his brother. Is that a platonic thought? Hell no.
I understand people would say platonic wincest is canon, the way they love each other isn’t explicitly shown as sexual in the show but this ship has so many more layers and it was absolutely intended by Kripke. He gave us so many of Dean’s borderline obsessive feelings in the early seasons, it makes me go feral.
In my opinion, with the whole “but Dean is straight” argument you don’t dismiss his love for Sam, because Dean doesn’t see Sam as a man. Sam could be a girl and Dean could be canonically gay and he’d still want Sam like crazy.
So, if you ask me, Wincest is canon all the way and not only platonic. That ship is downright the epitome of obsession.
