Hokay, so...
I’ve been reading Star Trek: New Frontier and I want to do an intro to this series, as I read the first 8 books last year and won’t be reviewing them. This is going to take some time. I’m taking a hiatus from blogging until the end of the month. I’m going on vacation in 2 weeks and have a lot to do to get ready for that. I hope I can work on this while I’m chilling at the beach. :)

Unboxing!
My March Owlcrate is here!!! Huzzah!!! (The anticipation has kept me going all week.)
So here we go:
This is the postcard that came. This month’s theme is Writer’s Block.
Book Buttons!!! I can put them on my bag!!! These are from Bookworm Boutique and are adorable. I have to go look at their other stuff.
Banned Book socks from Out of Print! I’ll keep these to wear around the house.
(Unrelated: like my sheets? Aren’t they cute w/ the VDay candy hearts?)
This is a little book of prompts for when you’re stuck! It’s super cute. They have ones like: Write a one-paragraph treatment for a reality TV show set in your workplace; “This is 911. What is your emergency?”; The smell of an orange reminds me of...; When I smell Pine-Sol I think of...
I like it. Gives me something to do at work.
And the book this month is The Serpent King is Jeff Zentner!
Synopsis: Dill has had to wrestle with vipers his whole life--at home, as the only son of a Pentecostal minister who urges him to handle poisonous rattlesnakes, and at school, where he faces down bullies who target him for his father’s extreme faith and very public fall from grace.
The only antidote to all this venom is his friendship with fellow outcasts Travis and Lydia. But as they are starting their senior year, Dill feels the coils of his future tightening around him. The end of high school will lead to new beginnings for Lydia, whose edgy fashion blog is her ticket out of their rural Tennessee town. And Travis is happy wherever he is thanks to his obsession with the epic book series Bloodfall and the fangirl who may be turning his harsh reality into real-life fantasy. Dill’s only escapes are his music and his secret feelings for Lydia--neither of which he is brave enough to share. Graduation feels more like an ending to Dill than a beginning. But even before then, he must cope with another ending--one that will rock him to the core.
Debut novelist Jeff Zentner provides an unblinking and at times comic view of the harsh realities of growing up in the Bible Belt, and an intimate look at the struggles to find one’s true self in the wreckage of the past.
I’d had this one on my Amazon wish list after discovering it on a list of upcoming YA books put out by Book Riot, so YAY! I’m excited for this one. It also came with a note by the author (I love that) and a postcard telling of the three friends writing their favorite quotes on a column under the bridge. There’s a contest for a free Owlcrate on the back for me to do the same thing.
And then: the thing I almost missed! A quill pen from Kikkerland! It’s a NICE pen. The tip is micro and writes beautifully. LOVE it!
So that’s March’s Owlcrate! Next month, I get 2 crates for my birthday! Book Riot’s Quarterly YA one, and Owlcrate’s April box: Dystopia. (My favorite kind of YA!!!) Happy Birthday to ME!!!
