Thread Fest was in full swing and it was every bit as wonderful as she had imagined it to be. All day long Kajika had been running all over the place, trying to sample and experience as many things as humanly possible. Now it was finally night time, the festival grounds lit up by elaborate lanterns to create a romantic mood.

There was to be a fireworks display later that night, one of the reasons why Kajika was still wandering around but there were enough booths still open to keep her entertained until then. It was during her wandering that she came across a rather good spot to watch the fireworks from, many of the remaining crowd seeming to have the same idea but she didn’t particularly mind.

Suddenly, she felt someone touch her back but paid no heed owing to the fact that there were so many people around that the nudge was probably unintentional. The touch came again except this time it was her posterior that was gently squeezed causing her to squeak in surprise as she leapt around to face the perpetrator. The sight that met her silver orbs was that of a white haired male, swaying slightly as he gave her a charming grin.

"Come here, Beautiful!" 

Not a chance…

Keeping a wary eye on the stranger, she slipped backwards into the crowd before turning away to find herself a new fireworks viewing spot.

There was something decidedly off about Nagito Komaeda.

Once, Komaeda had gotten severe food poisoning from a snack that went far past its expiration date- but it turned out later on, when the boy was sitting in his hospital bed and talking to his grandmother, that said snack held a winning set of numbers for some sort of big raffle. Komaeda had been too kind, rejecting Shu’s idle suggestion of suing the conbini from which he’d bought the snack. Shu was told, later on, that that was one instance alone among countless other similar incidents involving Komaeda’s luck. Still, he couldn’t shake off the feeling hounding the back of his mind that despite all the quirky oddness on the surface that was Nagito, behind the kindness and the ever-present smiles, there was something else lurking in there just waiting to claw its way out given the right opening, and it annoyed Shu, not being able to place a finger on what it was exactly.

He supposes he gets a taste of it when Komaeda finds him nearly walking into incoming traffic in the haziness of his usual absentmindedness. Shu feels himself get pulled away into safety and before he knows it, Komaeda admonishes him about watching out for himself more because he is the heir of something big, a beacon of hope, and then he tells him about despair and hope and there was something downright manic about the way he went on his little tirade about something that seemed so trivial to the heir.

Shu brushes off the other boy’s concerns with whatever’s and I-don’t-care’s and a good dosage of shouldn’t-you-be-at-work?, but as they part ways, he makes it a point to remember to keep an eye on Komaeda, because he doesn’t want to be around when the bomb goes off.

For a community event, Belladonna College and Harpwood University had decided to hold a carnival of sorts. The tasks were assigned by drawing names which was how Kajika and Komaeda ended up supervising the animal display together. Some of the more harmless critters like the rabbits were allowed to be petted but others like the snakes and other reptiles were safely stowed away in glass tanks.

Or at least they were supposed to be since there was now one suspiciously empty tank on the display table…

Empty Waiting Room // Rukia & Komaeda

✰— Rukia was surprised to see that the waiting room of Barron's Hair Salon was empty, the spa was most likely brimming with customers though, she'd heard good things about it. But today, she just needed a haircut, she would check the spa out another time.

A young boy came into view, with untamed hair. It was honestly the first thing Rukia noticed, because a boy with such a wild haircut (if you could call it that) working in a hair salon seemed kind of contradicting. Rukia wouldn't judge a person on their appearance though, she never did and wouldn't ever start.

"Is it always this empty here?"
