Subtle Blooming of Hanahaki
wild-untamed-heartâ:
It seemed the prospect of a sleepover was the perfect remedy for cheering both of them up. the excitable mood being contagious as Haru started making suggestions for what they could do. Kajika was more than amenable to having the sleepover at her friendâs abode where they would be out of sight from the prying, concerned eyes of her household staff.
âYour place it is then~â
She would just need to stop by her place to get a couple of essentials for spending the night as well as inform the staff of her plans. Perhaps they could even raid her pantry for additional tea and snack options. After all, since they were having a sleepover why not go all out and have a blast?
With a delighted laugh, the young heiress looped her arm through her friendâs and tugged her in the direction of her own house.
âCome with me to pick up my things and some supplies?â
Not that she was really giving her friend much choice in the matter considering that she had taken her arm hostage. For a while as they walked along, the conversation consisted mainly of ideas of what sorts of things they should try baking and what other things they could do for fun, like dressing up or playing board games.
âIf youâre feeling brave, you can even try teaching me to sew~â
That was surely a nigh impossible task in Kajikaâs opinion but the thought of doing crafts together seemed like it would be fun.
Thinking back on the reason for why they were having the sleepover in the first place, Kajika felt a nudge of curiosity. She obviously knew the person indirectly responsible for her predicament but she couldnât help but wonder who had managed to win her friendâs affections. It just didnât seem right that whoever it was didnât return Haruâs feelings considering how amazing she was.
Did she know this person at all?
Having mulled the question over in her mind, Kajika at last turned inquiring silver eyes towards her friend in contemplation.
âSay Haru, who did you fall in love with?â
Excellent, theyâve decided on a place. Haru only giggled when Kajika linked arms with her while asking if she would come with her to pick up her things. She wasnât being given a choice in the matter, it seemed, but she wouldâve joined anyways. âSure, Haru will come with you to pick up your things and then we can get this sleepover started~ However, is this too last minute for you?â Haru asked, wondering if Kajika already had plans or not.
Oh? What did bravery have to do with teaching Kajika how to sew, she wondered? Was Kajika that bad that she couldnât sew? She could think of at least two people who were also horrendous with a needle and thread. Kajika couldnât be any worse than they were, so Haru wasnât afraid. âChallenge accepted. Haru can help teach Kajika-chan how to sew.â She giggled, posing rather dramatically to show how determined she was.
To be honest, Haru wasnât expecting for Kajika to outright ask about the person she was in love with so suddenly. She actually stumbled over her foot from surprise. Haru had mentioned the person before, but she didnât go too in-depth about it. âAh⊠well⊠Haru has told you about him before. You remember when Haru has told you about her friends back at home? Itâs one of them. I can tell you more about it once we get to my place.â It would be best to talk about mafia related things once they were at her place.
It wasnât a very good idea to talk about that out in the open here. She hadnât told Kajika about her having affiliations with the Mafia, and today was probably the day sheâd talk about it. Might as well, right?
At the question posed by her friend, Kajika gave a light shake of her head accompanied by a grin. With no other plans lined up and the staff all being long accustomed to her antics, the abruptness of the decision did not matter in the slightest.
âAs long as I let the household know where Iâll be itâs fine.â
The young heiress laughed along with her friend at her declaration on teaching her the craft of sewing and found herself becoming more excited for their planned sleepover. It was comforting to know that while they both were now suffering from an unexpected affliction, they still had each other and could laugh and have fun as usual.Â
They continued laughing for a while before moving onto other topics of conversation as they steadily drew closer to Kajikaâs home. They werenât too far from the mansion when she asked a question which seemingly startled her companion and cause her to stumble. Kajika immediately stopped to regard Haru with concern but before she could speak a word Haru beat her to it.
âSure~â
Nodding slowly in acceptance, Kajika stowed away her curiosity on the matter for later. As much as she was dying to know, she respected her friendâs wishes for a confidential conversation that was not out in the open.
Once they arrived at their destination, the young heiress didnât take long to grab an overnight bag and pack the essentials of what she would need for her overnight trip before directing her friend in the direction of the kitchen. They spent a little more time there considering the different snack options that were open to them. Finally they settled on some assorted biscuits, muffins and a couple of glazed doughnuts. If they felt like any else, well... thatâs what Haruâs kitchen was for.
âI think that about covers everything we need here. Letâs head to your place~â
queenharumiuraâ:
something as well?â Haru asked. They both knew that Haru had a knack for making costumes, and she loved to craft things in general, whether it be clothing items, or food items. Haru knew that Kajika had a liking for plants, but she wasnât too sure about anything on the crafting side of things.Â
Haru was curious to know if there was a crafting project that Kajika wanted to accomplish. Perhaps, if she needed the help, it could be a collaborative project. It was either that, or she found a random crafting store and looked inside to see if Haru would like it herself. Whichever the case, Haru wasnât going to be disappointed regardless of what the answer was. She was just happy to be able to spend time with a friend.Â
Kajika considered her friendâs question carefully. Truth be told, crafts wasnât something she had ever really tried before but after becoming friends with Haru she had found herself gaining interest in the subject. Perhaps any craft she attempted wouldnât be anywhere near as good as what her friend could put together but even so, she believed it would be fun. She would have fun doing crafts with Haru because it was something that Haru loved doing. Giving her friend a bright smile, Kajika nodded her head enthusiastically before her gaze became slightly more contemplative.
âI think Iâd like to give it a go. Is there anything youâd recommend?âÂ
queenharumiuraâ:
The bus arrived and it came to a full stop before opening its doors to allow passengers on. It was their bus, excellent! The two first waited for passengers to get off at their stop before they walked onto the bus. Luckily for them, there was a seat open for two people to sit on, which they both took up readily.
âIn that case, it looks like weâll be seeing how long it will take by bus, so weâll have that information available to us in the future.â Haru smiled. She knew for a fact that if she was satisfied with their inventory, Haru would go to the store again in the future. She may even become something like a regular for them, in fact. âHopefully it doesnât take long, because Haru is very excited-desu~â
Her friend had a good point. It certainly would be handy to know how long it took to get there by bus for future reference. Kajika herself had found the shop rather quaint when she first stumbled upon it and she was looking forward to seeing what Haru thought of it, since Haru had immediately come to mind the moment she had stepped through the door. Her silver eyes sparkling with a combination of amusement and excitement, she nodded her head in agreement.
âIâm excited too~â
Just casually popping in to say Iâm still in lazy mode... after finally finishing the novel I was addicted to I got caught up in ESO (among other things lol)
Iâm hoping to get some replies done this weekend though (9*^*)9 Until then~
queenharumiuraâ:
âHahi? Is it?â Haru craned her neck to see the incoming vehicle, squinting to see if she could read any of the signage on the bus. âHaru thinks so?â This means they could get on the bus to get to the store that Kajika wanted to show her to.Â
âHow long does it take to get to the store when you take the bus?â Haru asked, trying to make a mental guesstimate of how long it would take from now to get to the store. She was very excited and she wanted to know how much longer she had to wait.Â
Kajika joined Haru in craning her neck to watch the approach of the large vehicle, her assumption that it was in fact their bus proving to be correct when it lumbered to a halt next to the bus stop. The young heiress then nimbly leaped to her feet and waited for her friend to join her before they headed towards the open door and boarded the bus. Once aboard, they made a beeline for a pair of open seats so they could sit together, Kajika having a mild laughing attack when they almost tripped over their feet in their haste.Â
âActually, Iâve only ever been to the store on foot so Iâm not entirely sure how long it would be by bus...â

ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
The locals of Namimori knew very well of the identity of this man, and similarly, were familiar with the fact he normally employed the usage of yellow birds to do his bidding. They were intelligent birds, trained to perform various tasks set to them, however, their most important trait was the fact they sing.Â
No, not just any random song either. They all sing the Namimori-chuu Almamater. Currently, the man walked down the streets with a yellow bird on either shoulder.Â
ăLittle one, you sang off pitch.ă
Currently, the man was teaching the younger of his two bird proteges how to sing the Almamater properly.Â
The grounds on which Kajikaâs house was situated was fairly large but in spite of that fact, it didnât limit her to taking walks exclusively in the garden much to the grievance of her household staff when they couldnât find her. Her sense of adventure also ensured that she alternated routes frequently, the fascination of what she could discover down a path she had never travelled before always a tempting lure.
It was while she on one such route that she spotted stranger who immediately caught her interest. Coming across strangers was by no means a novel occurance but this particular stranger had a petite yellow bird perched upon each shoulder and seemed to be instructing them to sing... hence the fascination.Â
It was rather impressive to behold and Kajika soon found herself waylaid from her own walk so she could continue to observe the spectacle.
I wonder if heâs some kind of bird charmer...
Subtle Blooming of Hanahaki
queenharumiuraâ:
Haru wasnât sure what it was that changed, but maybe it was a manner of her feelings. Were they not serious enough before, but now they were? No, maybe it was that she had a fighting chance before, but now it was impossible? Thinking things over, Haru did know who her one-sided feelings were for. Sheâd heard from the grapevine that he started dating someone recently, and thatâs when she started to feel discomfort in her chest.
Guess it was the finality of knowing her feelings wouldnât be returned that caused the Hanahaki to manifest itself. Haru wasnât sure, but there was a sense of defeat that came with knowing that she was coughing up flower petals and small flowers.
On one hand, she felt sad to know that Kajika was going through the same thing as her⊠but on another hand⊠she was happy to know she wasnât alone? It wasnât a very good thing to think for feel, but misery was wonderful company, they say.
At the very least, when Haru says that she can relate and understand Kajikaâs feelings, she could truly mean it. Sheâd have the blooms as proof of it, even.
With a bright smile on her face, Haru giggled. âRight! We can do all the fun things together! Life is too short to be depressed.â Surely, they could figure something out. Theyâll be able to pull through. Haru had faith in their ability to remain strong and fight through this together. It was the power of friendship indeed.
âHaru was sent some lovely tea from home that would pair well with the cookies she has at her place. Her kitchen is also well-stocked with ingredients should we decide to bake anything.â Haru threw the suggestion out there to suggest they go to her place, but Haru was open to staying at Kajikaâs if the other preferred that. Â
It seemed the prospect of a sleepover was the perfect remedy for cheering both of them up. the excitable mood being contagious as Haru started making suggestions for what they could do. Kajika was more than amenable to having the sleepover at her friendâs abode where they would be out of sight from the prying, concerned eyes of her household staff.

âSay Haru, who did you fall in love with?â
Subtle Blooming of Hanahaki
queenharumuira:Â
Haru started coughing in the middle of the street, and she coughed up a small petal. She stared at her open palm in shock.
âIâŠâ She was in such a shock, she dropped her third person speaking habit. âIâm not sure⊠is this⊠the Hanahaki?â She had thought that maybe the dry air was bothering her throat, but⊠this⊠this really came out of her throat just now.
âWhen⊠when you love someone and itâs unrequited⊠flowers start to grow inside of your lungs, and you can die from it. You can get them surgically removed if it gets bad enough.â She explained slowly, as she felt a shiver come over her.
This⊠this couldnât be happening.
____________________________________________________________
Oh no! Haru instantly ran to Kajikaâs side and she gave her friend a big bear hug. It wasnât too long ago when they found out that Haru had the Hanahaki, and now her friend had it too?
This wasnât something that was contagious, so she knew that it wasnât like Kajika got it because she herself had it⊠but it was so weird to have two friends have it roughly around the same time.
âIâm here for you, Kajika-chan. We⊠we can get through this together! We can be each otherâs support system!â Pain is easiest to live through when you had a friend by your side to confide in. âLetâs go and have a sleepover and talk about stuff. We can bake cakes⊠maybe make friendship bracelets⊠whatever you want to do~â
When life gives you lemon⊠make a lemon tart!
Kajika hadnât thought overly much about it when she coughed up the first petal. She often worked with plants, ate them in salads and often indulged in chomping on any wood sorrel she discovered growing wild so the notion that perhaps it was a stray petal that she hadnât swallowed properly or inhaled accidentally was the easy solution.
Then it became more frequent.
It had been astonishing to witness Haru experiencing the same thing no less but it had provided a good opportunity to ask her friend if she knew what the cause was. To learn the reason she was suddenly coughing up floral debris was from a flower that had sprouted in her lungs due to unrequited love was unexpected to say the least. Almost surreal.
Unrequited love huh...
There had been a time when she hadnât differentiated between different kinds of love... when she had loved Mustafa, her father, her friends, nature and plants all in equal measure. Then she had come to know that there was a difference, that there was a âspecial kindâ of love reserved exclusively for one person... a love she felt only towards one person.
And this was the result.
In spite of the fact that this predicament could cause her death, she didnât feel regret for coming to learn of this feeling. Even if it was painful to hack up flower parts and to have those feelings one-sidedly, it was a warm feeling as well. She wouldnât let go of this feeling no matter what, whatever the outcome may be.
Kajika gladly accepted her friendâs embrace and returned it with equal fervour. She wasnât in this alone, she and Haru could overcome it together.
âYeah, letâs have a sleepover and do all kinds of fun things~â

White Day Return Gift (Ponsol)
((AYYYYYYY Letâs really hope that I didnât end up repeating anythingâ iâm sure that I didnât butâ you never know. I hope you enjoy this~))
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
As one would expect, Ponsol and Kajika always met at their usual cafĂ©. It was simple, and familiar. It was like⊠tradition. Ponsol did like that about their meetings at the cafĂ©. There was something comforting about âtraditionâ as it gave off that feeling of stability.
Stability being something that he desired for when it came to personal relationships he shared with people. To know that he could count on someone (or something) to remain in his life was a nice concept.
That was the reason why Ponsol always suggested the café, because it meant something to him on an emotional level.
This year, Kajika and Ponsol arrived at the same time, and they were both showed to a table together. âI see weâre tied.â Usually one of them would arrive earlier than the other and place orders for the both of them.
Once they sat at their table, they ordered their usual drinks before getting straight to business. Ponsol had a gift bag in hand, and it was obviously a gift of sorts. Given the date, of course the gift was for White day.
Interestingly, Ponsol didnât look as he usually did. He was fumbling with his fingers with pursed lips. The gift bag was smaller than usual, which was quite telling, given that he normally enjoyed being grandiose with everything that he did.
Just these two facts should be enough to paint the picture that today was different from the other times he gifted her something. Today was a meaningful one, as it was his turn to convey his feelings of gratitude towards his friend.
Quietly, he pushed the gift bag towards her.
âYou are able to make watercolor paints with flowers. I had some made with the flowers in my greenhouse. Iâve supplied a palm-sized painting to show how they look on a canvas.â He considered that making paints out of flowers was a novel gift idea.
âThe next two giftsâŠâ He trailed off, thanking the moment he saw the waitress arrive with their beverages. The heir felt very out of his element, and it showed in his body language. âGiven what happened the last time, I went out of my way to make an extra keycard to my greenhouse. If you use this to enter, you wonât trip off the alarms. I hope you feel honored by this.â Ponsol was acting tough so to speak.
You could say that even he had a bit of a tsundere streak to him when he was out of his business element. Â
Indirectly, Ponsol was giving his express permission for Kajika to enter the greenhouse as she pleased, whether she wanted to visit his plants, or use the greenhouse as a place to hide in.
The importance of this keycard was that the alarm wouldnât get set off, even though the cameras will still record everything that goes on in the greenhouse. This meant that Kajika could enter his greenhouse without him knowing about it. This way, he could always feign ignorance should she be found there.
He wouldnât get caught in between like Kajika was worried about the last time. What was wrong about letting a friend visit a greenhouse? Nothing. If she had a keycard, she could go in as she pleased, and he couldnât possibly get much flack for that.
The gifts were becoming more and more personal for Ponsol, so the last gift had to be something that meant something big to him. âAs you know, I have a potted spider plant that I treasure. I received a spiderette from my motherâs plant, and Iâve propagated it. I named my plant after hers, so I donât forget the roots of the plant.â
Ponsolâs mother, Jasmine meant a lot to him, and of course, he would treasure Matilda. He received the spiderette before he left for college and heâd been taking care of the plant ever since. Spider plants created babies, otherwise known as âspiderettesâ and they could be repotted to propagate into their own entity.
Of all his plants, âMatildaâ is the only one he named, which attests to how important the plant is to him. Gifting Kajika a spiderette held a significant meaning.
Not only did he have to trust someone with caring for Matildaâs plant child, but he also had to consider them in high enough regard to even consider giving another person a part of Matilda.
âYou are the only one that Iâve given a Spiderette to.â He confessed. No, not even his brother.
Ponsol couldnât trust Shugarl to care for a plant, especially whenever he had one of those episodes of his. He lost track of time and couldnât care for himself. If he couldnât care for himself, could he be trusted to care for Matildaâs kin? Ponsol begs to differ.
He understood well that many people didnât care for sentimental gifts, but only monetary ones. So, from that point of view, his gift may be considered lacking, but he didnât think Kajika was one of those people. He was sure that she would truly appreciate and treasure the gifts.
âIâm grateful towards you for being my friend and for trusting me. I still donât understand why you consider me decent enough company to keep around, but Iâm appreciative of the fact that luck was on my side to gift me a wonderful friend⊠who cares. I do hope that youâll continue to be my friend for years to come.â Ponsol spoke these words from the heart. His voice was softer and somewhat⊠timid? It was a great contrast to how sure and strong his voice sounded otherwise.
He bowed his head slightly towards her, as a show of his sincerity. He never could have imagined heâd ever see the day that heâd gift a spiderette to anyone, but sometimes life had an interesting way of surprising you.
The worry now was if he would ever have to one up this yearâs gift. This one was already quite meaningful as it was, he didnât know if it was possible to gift anything even more meaningful than what he just gifted.
Woe is he who is so honorably keeping himself to his motherâs standards.Â
_______________________________________________________________
A meeting at their place. It always made Kajika excited even though theyâd been there plenty of times before. Usually she liked trying new things and new places but there was just something special about having a regular meeting place. There might have been a time when she would have considering proposing another location but at this point it just felt wrong to do so.
This time she had even more reason to be excited because at last it was White Day and she was eager to see what her friend had gotten for her. He had told her to look forward to it after all and Ponsol was without a doubt a man of his word.
It was a pleasant surprise to find that she and Ponsol had arrived at the same time for once, as usually one or the other arrived first.
âIndeed, seems like weâre in sync today~â
Linking her arm through her friendâs companionably, she chattered away about various things as they made their way to their table in a more secluded corner of the cafĂ©. Once there, the both of them were quick to be seated and order their drinks, a simple task which involved merely nodding to the waitress asking if they would be having the usual. A perk when one was a regular.
The moment she departed, Kajika turned to eye Ponsol with anticipation as she had a feeling that her gift was finally going to be revealed. Her expression rapidly became one of concern because something about her companion was just... off.
It could be said that Kajika was oblivious at times but even she could tell that Ponsol was behaving differently than usual and she had known him for quite some time now. Concerned silver eyes watched as he pushed a small gift bag in her direction and it was with some hesitancy that she tentatively reached out to take it.
Whether it was Ponsolâs change in demeanour or something else, the atmosphere felt charged somehow, like the moment was one of utmost delicacy. It felt like she needed to exercise caution, even if she wasnât entirely why.
Once her companion began explaining the gifts, Kajika supposed she should open the gift to review the contents. The first thing her eye caught was the top of the painting he mentioned and she carefully drew it out to have a closer look.Â
âItâs beautiful...â
The words were a reverent whisper as she quietly admired the small work of art. It would have to be hung with the other masterpiece she had been gifted last year. It truly was amazing how talented her friend seemed to be when it came to these sorts of things and in this case it was even more precious because of the medium he had selected.
She would treasure it.
There was a pause to the proceedings when the waitress came bearing their drinks but Kajika couldnât bring herself to sip her tea now. All her attention was riveted on Ponsol and what heâd been about to say before the interruption occurred. Finally they were left alone once more and her friend continued from where heâd left off.
What...
Her eyes opened wide with shock and for a moment she felt she couldnât breathe, even as she reached into the gift bag to remove the said keycard with trembling fingers. Her mouth opened and closed silently before she gave up trying to speak around the lump that had suddenly formed in her throat.
With how long they had been friends now, it would have been impossible not to know just how important Ponsolâs greenhouse was to him. It had been one thing to sneak in there during a time of desperation but to be granted permanent access... It was hard to describe what she was currently feeling...
She could feel moisture gathering in the corners of her eyes but she ignored them as she gazed almost dazedly at the keycard clasped in her trembling hand.
At first Kaijka couldnât grasp why Ponsol suddenly started speaking about Matilda, his treasured spider plant, although she was always interested in hearing about what he considered important. For a brief moment, she fondly recalled when they had first met and discovered their mutual love of plants, how she had asked him if she could see his spider plant... it was rather amazing much their friendship had flourished since then.
The reason however, soon became all too clear.
He... he...
If Kajika had been stricken speechless before, then she was even more so now. It was in that moment that she suddenly recognised part of what she was feeling. The overwhelming emotions she had felt back when she had finally befriended Mustafa, when he had finally allowed her to touch him and their irrevocable bond had been formed... that was how she was feeling now. Her most precious plant friend who usually kept people at a distance was showing her that he trusted her and appreciated their friendship and there were just no words for that.
...
Kajikaa was, by nature, a very tactile person so it was only natural for her to drop the keycard on the table, leap out of her chair and move to embrace Ponsol from behind. The moisture in the corner of her eyes were full on streaming down her cheeks now and for a moment she just kept her head buried in the nape of his neck as she tried to get her emotions under control enough to speak.
âThank youâ
It was a tremulous whisper spoken in a trembling voice and accompanied by a feather light kiss planted on his cheek. Plopping her chin back on his shoulder, with her arms still around him she gave a shaky laugh although already her voice was sounding steadier than it had before.
âIâll have you know youâre never getting rid of me~â
Her tea was probably cold by now, not that she cared about that right now or the possibility of whoever may or may not be gawking at her strange behaviour. She was just delighted about implications behind the gifts she had just received and the precious person who had given them to her. Speaking of gifts...
âHmmm... I wonder what I should name mine? Tilda or Tilly perhaps?â
Another thought, although far from mind now but was sure to bug her later, was the impossible task of Valentineâs Day gifting the following year. Meaningful gifts from the heart, such as this, were practically impossible to surpass.
Make your muse!

Be My Guest [White Day]
Kajika had intended to make up for missing Valentineâs Day by giving Jupiter something spectacular on White Day only... it was harder coming up with a splendid idea than she anticipated.
First she thought about origami flowers, but then remembered she had done that the year before. Then she debated making chocolate flowers, but recalled that Jupiter had given her a similar gift previously. There was always the option of making some kind of baked treat but since she had been given such delightful cupcakes by Jupiter she didnât want to seem like she was merely copying her. One should always put consideration into a gift.
Hmmm...
Suddenly recalling that theyâd never gotten round to having their tea party she thought perhaps that might be an idea of how to spend the day. Even better, since White Day was on a Saturday perhaps they could have a sleepover while they were at it. Sheâd never had a sleepover with a female friend before so the idea was very appealing.
Idea in place, Kajika made the necessary arrangements of getting permission from Jupiterâs parents as her plans would fail right from the start if they said no. Once she had the green light to go ahead, the young heiress took the greatest care to prepare for the arrival of her guest as she wanted Jupiter to feel like she was a princess for the day.Â
Her staff had enquired about preparing a separate room for her friend but Kajika had declined, as there was no point in sleeping over if they couldnât even talk to each other before they dozed off! Besides, her bed was more than big enough to accommodate them with room to spare.
In addition, she had prepared fancy outfits they could wear during tea time for the fun of it since she had heard little girls like doing that sort of thing, it was also something she had never gotten the chance to do while growing up. Colourful bouquets and exquisite decorations for the table were prepared not to mention a large assortment of tea delicacies.
As the day approached, she got more and more excited thinking of all the things they could do together besides the tea party. Hide and seek, tag, bathing together, pillow fights, story telling... the possibilities were endless.
At last the day arrived and as requested in the invitation she had presented Jupiter the week before, she was dropped off just in time for tea.
âThank you ever so much for coming Young Miss, the tea party awaits~â
Having a Sweet Time~ [White Day]
Kajika had put in a lot of thought for what to do for White Day, numerous ideas being considered and scratched before finally deciding upon a plan she deemed suitable. At first she had considered making something in return for the amazing magic balls but nothing seemed to really stand out to her, not to mention that the household chefs werenât too keen to let her anywhere near their domain.
The idea she come up with should do nicely however...
She had asked Haru to meet her bright and early so they could get a good start to the plan she wished to carry out, having decided on meeting at a spot they often used. It was truly convenient that this year White Day was on a Saturday as it would have been difficult to accomplish her plan otherwise.
âTa daa~â
Upon spotting Haru at the meeting spot, Kajika immediately raced over and displayed a detailed itinerary. The young heiress had gone to a lot of trouble of researching various cafes, sweet stalls and anything sweet or dessert related within easy travelling distance as well as their specialties.
âI thought perhaps we could go on a sweet tour of the city.â
Kajika was well aware of Haruâs sweet tooth so going around sampling various sweets and desserts together seemed a good way to spend time with her friend. Perhaps they would even discover a hidden gem among the places theyâve never been to before.
Next she produced two books which she had spent time designing especially for today, each page being dedicated to a location listed on the itinerary with a place to enter what had been consumed, a rating and additional comments.
âWhile weâre at it, I thought we could also play at being sweet/dessert reviewers... you know, like on those food shows on TV.â
The first location on the itinerary was quite close to their meeting spot so after handing Haru her review book Kajika proceeded to lead the way to their first destination.
âNo need to worry about expenses, itâs my treat~â
[PONSOL]'S Vday 2020 Gift
[This one is from Ponsol! Itâs so lovely being able to use a main blog that is separate from Haruâs blog to start submitting these from lol. I hope you like this one as well! You know the drill, do what you want with this~ Look forward to White day!]
The two met at their usual café, where they both arrived at the same time. They walked over to a table and put in their order for tea before settling down. Both of them knew what this was for, so there was no need for a prelude. Ponsol accepted the gift that Kajika gave him and he looked inside.
âThis is your own blend? I appreciate it, thank you.â Mint tea didnât have caffeine in it, so he could drink it and not have to worry about the caffeine keeping him up at night. He did try to keep to a pretty regular schedule, so he was very careful about when he brewed tea for himself.
Mint also had health benefits, like relaxing the mind, keeping you focused, etc. This gift made him recall the canister of tea he prepared for her last year during White day. The herbal chamomile tea used the flowers that he grew himself in the greenery. A part of him wondered if this was Kajikaâs way of returning the sentiment in her own way by gifting him her own blend of tea.
The Brunfelsia pauciflora sapling was carefully scrutinized to see that it was in good health, not that he ever expected for her to gift him something that wasnât in good condition. He himself had a habit of purchasing flowers that werenât in good condition so he could try to bring them back to good health with careful care and consideration.
Still, itâs not in good taste to gift someone a plant that isnât doing well, so he wouldnât expect anyone to gift him a suffering plant, no matter how he personally wouldnât mind. There is always a thing called âconnotationâ to consider, after all.
âI will be sure to take good care of this one as well, thank you, Kajika.â He knew about the sapling, but he didnât know the specifics of how to care for one. He knew that they were a type of flowering plant. It was a shrubbery perennial that normally grew in gardens.
Its common names included: âyesterday today and tomorrowâ âmorning noon and nightâ, âbrazil raintree,â and âkiss me quickâ. The last one, he was going to conveniently overlook, as he didnât think Kajika had those sorts of intentions towards him. She did specify that the sapling was a token of their timeless friendship, after all.
He would do some specific research on the sapling later once he returned to his condo. He wanted to find the best place to raise it. If there wasnât an appropriate place in the greenhouse, he was going to have to work fast and resolve the issue of where the house his new plant friend.
The greenhouse was located somewhere on the Geripeta property, and the plants were carefully tended to by professionals. Of course, Ponsol would make the time and visit when he had the chance. Any time he had to return to the main household to report to his grandfather, he always made it a point to visit the greenhouse after the fact.
Just seeing his thriving plant friends could always lift up his mood whenever he was feeling downtrodden.Â
The last of the gifts she gave him was a bookmark made with pressed Alstroemeria flowers. He could recognize that these must have been germinated from the seeds that he gave her two years ago. Close inspection would show how healthy the flower was when it was picked to be made into a bookmark.
As heâd expect, they were raised well with immense care. Their colors were vibrant, and there was no discoloration to be seen around the edges. The flowers were carefully organized in an artful way that Ponsol could appreciate on an aesthetic level.
This reminded him of the drawing he gifted her last year, with a sketch of all of the plants theyâve exchanged between each other, and the chocolate truffles that were made using the cocoa beans that came from the Cocoa bean tree she gifted him years back.
There was something⊠truly special about being able to exchange gifts with each other like this. You could say that these gifts were a sign of how their friendship âbore fruitâ so to speak.
A gentle look in his eyes coupled with a smile showed that he was happy to see that she had took the time to germinate the seeds and care for them. The seeds did mean a lot to him since he specially breed them, so it was⊠nice to see that she grew some of the flowers on her own.
He could recognize the special breed of flower, so you could say that this bookmark was a one of a kind, because it wasnât like a regular Alstroemeria you could find in the wild.
âThis bookmark is beautiful, Kajika. I see theyâve grown well under your care.â He was truly happy to see them. She could have accepted the seeds and not germinate them, but this gift showed that she did grow and raise the flowers that he gifted her. It was a very personable gift from him, so it truly meant a lot to him.
A meaningful look came upon him for a moment before he quickly returned to his usual haughty façade. âItâs quite amazing that weâve been friends for so long now, isnât it? Itâs a shock to see that you havenât run away from me yet. Most people have by this point.â He jested half-heartedly, bringing his cup of tea to his lips to enjoy the warm beverage.
âI do hope that youâll continue to be my friend for a long time. Iâve grown quite used to your presence in my life, and I do think it would leave a mark if you ever left.â He was speaking his true thoughts at the moment. He did try to speak in a way it wouldnât sound as though he was pressuring her to not leave.
Most of his friendships were business related, so he was quite used to friends coming and going out of his life.
That being said, he didnât want to lose Kajika as a friend, but he also didnât want to make her feel pressured to do anything. Thatâs not what friends do to each other, to steal their freedom to do as they pleased. âDo look forward to your gift next month, I think youâll enjoy it.â He grinned. He already had a plan in mind, and he was actually quite excited to see it through.
________________________________________________________________
There was something special about having a tradition and more importantly, a friend to share said tradition with. Kajika and Ponsol had both been to this cafĂ© countless times together so now rather than âthat cafĂ©â or the âusual placeâ it had somehow become âtheir placeâ. Going there alone or going there with someone else had simply become inconceivable... a seemingly illogical notion to some perhaps but that was how she felt about.
So as had become their tradition, they arrived at their place, sat at their table of preference and indulged in their tea and snacks of choice. Kajika was thankful that Ponsol wasnât one of those stuffy individuals of the upper class who insisted on small talk and ridiculous niceties before getting to the point, as she was fairly bursting with eagerness to impart her gift and enjoy the recipients reactions.
She was not disappointed.
It was gratifying to note that he appreciated the tea, after all the consideration that had gone into selecting exactly what kind she should gift him with. Being partial to tea herself and having enjoyed his own blend that he had given to her last year, it had seemed like a good idea to make a blend for him too. In fact, this particular blend had been made from the leaves of the mint plants she had purchased while on a nursery excursion with him ever so long ago.Â
Kajika did have to quietly smile behind her teacup at the scrutiny her plant gift received, not that she expected anything less from such an avid plant lover as herself, but it was funny to observe nonetheless. She had of course scrutinized the plant herself before selecting it so she was at least confident that he would find nothing amiss.
Finally he got to the bookmark and she was overjoyed to see expression on his face as he admired it. There was no way that she could have failed to give those seeds anything but the greatest of care and she was pleased at how well they had bloomed as a result. It felt fitting to share such success with the one who had given them to her in the first place.
Kajika sipped her tea quietly for a moment as she considered his words, her heart feeling a little heavy at the implication. Personally she thought her friend was a wonderful person, even if he was a little difficult at times, but if what he was saying was any indication not many people got to see his good sides... whether it was a matter of them not even bothering to try or if he simply refused to show them. Either way, she felt very privileged.
Setting down her teacup, Kajika proceeded to give Ponsol a teasing wink.
âIâm kind of like a cactus glochid you know? Iâm extremely difficult to get rid of~â
In other words, she was planning on sticking around indefinitely.
Vday from a Water Giant 2020!
Hello hello! You know the drill, this can be treated as a standalone drabble that you can do whatever you want with! You can hoard it away like a dragon, or you can reply to it as you see fit! Thanks for requesting~ [please let me know if it doesnât submit correctly and iâll try to fix it]
Mizumachi was no stranger to being called out by people for whatever reason. He was a sociable guy as much as he was personable, so his networking of friends was by no means small. Of course, there were people that he tended to hang out with more than some others, but that didnât mean he appreciated them any less.
Kajika was a friend that he liked to play with quite often. Both were active people who loved to do⊠ANYTHING! Playing Volleyball with a ping pong ball was âweird,â but itâs so much fun! Itâs also a lot harder too, he thought.
Itâs such a small ball and its light, so it takes some getting used to.
âHey, Kajika-chan! Whatâs up?â Mizumachi greeted her with a beaming smile as per usual.
Whenever she called him out, he went to their decided upon meeting place. There, she gifted him some chocolates! Being the ever-popular guy he was, heâd already received some chocolates early that morning from some friends of his.
âHm? These are for me?â
Right, today was Valentineâs day! Kajika was giving him chocolate and that could only mean one thing⊠these were Valentineâs day chocolates he was getting from his friend! Probably tomo-chocolate, if he had to guess.
After asking if he could open the gift, he saw that sheâd gifted him mini chocolate shaped soccer balls? They had a caramel center as well!
He tilted his head to the side with a moment of confusion before glee appeared on his face. âMhaaa~ Itâs a soccerball, thanks!â He was born gifted with a strong body, fast reflexes, and good intuition. In most sports he tried, he quickly found himself being one of the core players on any team.
As one could expect, this meant that he essentially appreciated any and all sports that he could throw himself into. American Football held a special place in his heart, but he did dabble with other sports every now and again.
Itâs like that, you can have a favorite food, but you canât eat it for every single meal. It can get boring, and thatâs not healthy! Switching things up is fun, and itâs like taking a break! Gifting anything sports related was a good choice.
âIs this a pun?â He asked, referring to the chocolate soccer balls.
In many countries, âFootballâ referred to âSoccer,â and thatâs why the sport he played had âAmericanâ tagged in the front of it for differentiation. American football was different from what most other countries thought it was.
American football was similar to Rugby, but even then, there were some differences.
He was wondering whether she gave him soccer ball chocolates to make a pun off of the two sports. âAh⊠maybe itâs not a pun? Do words have to rhyme or sound the same to be a pun?â Mizumachi tilted his head again, thinking hard about it.
The guy wasnât very smart so he didnât have a good idea, but surely Kajika would know? She was the smarter one of the two of them!
Alas, in true muscle-headed fashion, he soon gave up on thinking about it. Thinking⊠wasnât his strong suit, and he didnât do it every often. It was truly a miracle that he somehow made it through highschool and got into college. It was likely his sports credentials that mainly got him accepted though.
Taking one of the soccer balls, he balanced it on his thumb, flicking it up into the air. Being that they were shaped like a soccer ball, you must eat them as dynamically as you can! He flicked one into the air and he positioned himself so he could catch it in his mouth once it descended.
âI got it!â He happily chewed on the chocolate, appreciating its sweet flavor. âI bet I could play trick shots with these.â Heâd seen all sorts of videos of people bouncing things like ping pong balls off walls to get them into cups.
Obviously, the chocolates wouldnât bounce quite like a ping pong ball, but that didnât mean he could give up so easily! He could just do something else! Maybe⊠yeah! Those things! âHey hey, you got some dominoes and stuff? Wanna do those things? Yanno, the ones with the dominoes and the strings, and the metal balls.â
He was referring to those contraptions people rigged for one simple action to cause a chain reaction of other things to move to end in one result. âWe could line up some dominoes and when the last one drops, it can push a toy car that triggers a zipline. We could make it with some string and a clothes hanger or something. Basically, it will be a trick shot kinda deal.â The end result?
He will get a chocolate ball at the end of it! Maybe the final thing would be that a chocolate soccer ball will go flying and he has to catch it!
Yeah, you shouldnât play with your food, but the chocolates were begging to be played with because theyâre shaped like soccer balls! How could you ever expect a sports maniac like him to not want to play with them when they are shaped like they are?
âMhaa~ It will be a lot of fun! Iâm sure with my reflexes and your smarts, we can figure something out! We can film it and share it!â That way, other people can enjoy their ingeniousness. Maybe, it could even go viral! Wouldnât that be fun?
Basically, doing anything with Kajika would be fun, and he thought that enjoying the chocolates this way would truly put into the spirit the way their friendship was found- on weird ideas. Of course, he couldnât force her to do anything if she didnât want to.
Many people would scold him by saying not to play with his food, and heâd listen (no promises heâd remember, however). âIf not, we can have a competition to see how many chocolate soccer balls we can catch and eat.â Just like he had done earlier, they could see how many chocolate balls one can flick into the air and subsequently catch in a row.
No matter what, the heat of competition would never die in his heart!!

Many took Valentineâs Day as a day for confessing feelings and Kajika was no exception, although her take on it pertained more to the love she had for her friends. This year however was the first time she was including Mizumachi in her friendship line-up.
The young heiress fondly recalled the day they had met, that unexpected landing of a ping pong ball in her tea and the subsequent volleyball game. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and so she figured it shouldnât hurt to show her friend her appreciation of their bond with the traditional chocolate. Perhaps she could have gone with sporting gear of some kind considering how much her friend enjoyed sport but after spotting the interesting shaped moulds in the store she had wanted to give handmade chocolate a try.
The notion that other people might also have gifted chocolate never really crossed her mind but he seemed pleased enough with her present and so she was happy.
An amused escaped her at the interesting ideas proposed for the chocoloate balls and Kajika she really shouldnât have been surprised with this outcome. One of the things that enchanted her about Mizumachi was his ingenious ideas of making any game a lot more fun, no matter how unconventional.
She took a moment to consider the proposed plan before giving her friend a cheerful grin.
âWell, I donât know about dominoes but Iâm sure we could make a good enough contraption with whatever materials we manage to find~â
Operation build a launching contraption was a go and she knew that they would have a lot of fun whether they succeeded in building something that worked or not.Â
