*screaming and crying and throwing up*
LOOK what my in-laws gave me for christmas!!!!! 😭😭😭😭
She's a model 127 Singer treadle from 1922!!!!! I saw her in their garage while we were hanging out at thanksgiving and expressed my enthusiasm at even just seeing one in person. I had brought over some cleaning supplies with the intention of giving her a once over and to my shock and awe, found her with a big red bow on.
She needs a good deep clean, some rust removed, and a new belt - I cant wait to see her running properly.
Pictured is the bobbin along with all the old thread i peeled off the spool and some bits and buttons that were in the drawers.
Its amazing to tinker with a machine this old, to see evidence of the past hundred years of use. the enamel and decals are more worn on the working side where the fabric is fed through and the arm is worn smooth where so many hands have gripped to tuck the machine back into the table. i cried last night just thinking about it. She's a living piece of history.
I'll post updates as i make progress on restoring her.
