James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970). He only had a short mainstream career but was filled with memorable songs and performances for only a brief period. I'm amazed at how effortless and casual it seemed as he played his guitar. He made this complex sound with the strumming of his fingers. Jimi Hendrix is one of the biggest influences on many artists. Hendrix is the go-to for black "rock musicians," which is understandable. Hendrix has earned all the posthumous awards and accolades he has received. I like how his band, The Experience and Band of Gypys, was a three-piece band; this allowed him to play a more prominent sound without a rhythm guitarist. Hendrix is quite possibly one of the greatest guitarists that ever existed. Most folks have personal stories about how he affected their life as musicians or fans. I have a faux vintage T-shirt that I wear during the summer months. He helped shape psychedelic rock, blues rock, heavy metal, and showmanship as a musician. He is one of the most influential artists in music.
