Holy shit congratulations! That's taken YEARS hasnt it?
Maybe not years though it’s certainly felt that way. XD I only started seriously playing FFXIV in December 2016 (I don’t really count the few weeks I tried it in 2014). It has definitely taken a while because crafting is pretty much another game entirely.
So now I have no excuses on getting my Disciple of War and Disciple of Magic classes up. *looks at her list**grooooooan*
singing-hedgehog replied to your post: 7. I thought you wanted holos? - for Aleena,...
New OTP: Aleena x Happiness (this was adorable and lovely!)
Can definitely agree with that OTP, and so does Aleena :) Also I’m glad you liked it ^^
Because I know you have a ton of characters and I'm curious: 1, 2, and 26 for the swtor guilty admissions!
Okay, you wanna call me out like this, huh XD. Fine XDXD. -cracks knuckles- (unable to actually crack knuckles in real life)
1. How many server slots out of 100 do you have? How many are used?
38/100. On Darth Malgus: 29. Satele Shan: 12. Star Forge: 23
I feel that it bears mentioning that most of those on Star Forge are level 1 whatevers that I made because I had an idea and then completely ditched, and that I should clean it up at some point but whatever XD. A few of those on Darth Malgus are similar.
2. How many of each main class do you have? How many of those are which sub-class?
Let’s, uh, only count the ones that have made it past level 10, or we’ll be here a loooong time counting. And bolding the instances that are my actual main peeps.
Darth Malgus:
6 Inquisitors (5 Sorcerers [1 is Delven], 1 Assassin)
4 Warriors (3 Juggernauts [1 is Vyssal], 1 Marauder)
3 Agents (2 Operatives [1 is Sen’ya], 1 Sniper)
3 Hunters (1 Powertech [Ryhenna], 2 Mercs)
2 Knights (1 Sentinel [Huath], 1 Guardian [Kyprioth])
3 Consulars (2 Sages, 1 Shadow)
2 Smugglers (Scoundrels),
3 Troopers (2 Vanguards, 1 Commando)
Satele Shan:
3 Inquisitors (all Sorcerers [1 is alt!Delven])
1 Warrior (Juggernaut)
2 Consulars (1 Sage, 1 Shadow)
Star Forge:
4 Inquisitors (3 Sorcerers, 1 Assassin)
2 Warriors (1 Juggernaut, 1 Marauder [Fervour])
2 Agents (Operatives, one of whom is level 50, hey)
2 Knights (2 Guardians)
2 Consulars (1 and 1)
1 Smuggler (Scoundrel)
I think you can tell Inquisitor is my favourite class to roll, though ironically I have only completed the Inquisitor class story once, as opposed to twice each on Warrior and Knight.
26. How many servers do you play on? How often?
You can tell it’s three servers XD. Used to be more like 4.5. But since I am in fact merely human despite all pretense to the contrary, I most frequently muck around on Darth Malgus (formerly The Progenitor) because main home, and Satele Shan because friend.
Currently a bit burnt out from MTG and also juggling too many hobbies, so I’m getting on SWTOR an average of once or twice a week at present.

I’m sure you have a ton of recommendations, but if not, might I suggest The Lies of Locke Lamora? It might not be your cup of tea, but it does “competent male protag who works for it and whose hubris bites him in the ass HARD” super well
I...can’t remember why I haven’t tried that yet. You’re not the first person to recommend it and there’s nothing obvious in a quick glance at Goodreads that’s off-putting.
(Also, the author had an great response to someone griping about him having an awesome pirate woman in one of his books. While that doesn’t guarantee I’ll like his books, it’s at least points in his favor.)
... Oh. I went to put it on hold at the library and it would seem that we don’t actually have it, except in ebook and cd book. Perhaps that’s why it slipped under the radar. I put the ebook on hold, though.
singing-hedgehog replied to your post “I did figure out the difference between hyper-competent characters who...”
I think you've nailed it. I'd never thought about it like that before but you're exactly right. Contrast this guy to a main character like, idk, Tamora Pierce's characters, whose motivations and struggles and emotional rollercoasters are all laid out for the audience. The audience gets invested, and their victories feel like our victories. Whereas the annoying main character you describe sounds like... a lump that the -author- is using to try to look clever.
Yep. And that’s exactly where everything went wrong, I think. The author cared more about the character looking clever than he did about the audience being invested in the character. He almost got away with it since the plot was interesting enough that I finished the book, but I can’t say he really did, because I have zero interest in reading any more books in the series. (Or, for that matter, in giving any more of the author’s books a try.)
