Back with commissions!

If policy debate is an activity designed to encourage real world policy making, then why is it that I, John Katsulas...
Speechifying.
Chatting on twitter with @liberatedwomble and @RunAlongWomble (I know! Underground, overground, wombling free indeed!) about Babylon 5 and I remembered one of my favourite ever speeches from a TV show. Sci-Fi television isn’t short of rousing rhetoric, often delivered by some of the best actors in the business, but I think this G’Kar monologue from the season two episode “The Long Twilight Struggle” is one of the best:
“No dictator, no invader, can hold an imprisoned population by the force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against that power governments, and tyrants, and armies can not stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.”
Andreas Katsulas was always one of the best things in the show and his reading of this scene manages to choke me up every. Single. Time.
See the scene here. The passage in question is from 2:10 until about 3:20.
a rebuttal of sorts... though it's not monday
