The little tattoo? It's to indicate that he's been neutered. I think you can request that a vet doesn't brand their ear if you have a show dog or something, but for most pets they mark the inside of their ears to indicate it's an owned animal, and not feral or something.

Not that Pippin would last a week in the bush on his own. xD

pretty much like regular lotion! you just sort of smear it on.
