Which quotes changed you?
Such a loaded question! I have to say a few years back I really loved “It’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” As someone who likes changes in her life every now and then, I think it fits me quite well. :)
One quote that always sticks with me from reading Harry Potter will be, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.“ (Dumbledore, of course, the most quotable dude ever.) I like this one because I’m a perfectionist and a pushover and I sometimes (okay, constantly) worry over how much I can do and know as opposed to what I could do and should know. But every now and then, a quote like this or just a thought about how just because I cannot remember important historical dates or don’t know all that much about something that is considered genderal knowledge doesn’t make me a bad or even mediocre person. I try to be kind and open-minded and helpful, and in the end I think that should count for more than being super smart and knowledgable should.
(And that, kids, is why I am much happier now with my being sorted into Hufflepuff by Pottermore than I was in the beginning when I desperately wanted to be a Ravenclaw. :P )
Another quote that really impressed me was actually one on Glee: “I’m not a box, there are more than four sides to me” (Kurt <3) is probably my very favorite quote about how identities are not something for other people to decide. :)
I just love quotes, I could go on and on... :D
