T#Repost @isolafilms with @get_repost ・・・ Last weekend, @leaelsieyoga & I experienced a magical evening in a 400+ year old ancient forest with #SamLee @nestfolk #singingwithnightingales at @greenfarmkent 🌿 As the sun went down, we gathered around a bonfire along with 20 or so others for an evening of live music, nature facts & bird song. We started the evening with a wonder around the woodland to hear the evening chorus. We learnt some great facts about the magnificent Nightingale birds which come to the UK to spend their spring times, from Africa. In the last two years there has been 60% decline in these birds. Later that evening, when the sun went down, we would adventure in the pitch black to go find them... In the meantime, we headed back to camp to have an amazing vegetarian dinner that had been cooked over the fire. Bliss. Sam Lee broke the gentle chatter with a beautiful folk song and we listened to some more stories. As we got to nearly midnight, with no moon in sight and just the stars to guide us, we got into single file - ready to explore the forest & find these rare birds! Some rules: no rustley clothes, no torches, no speaking... we obediently followed the person in front of us through the darkness - our sound senses heightened & ready to hear the birds. Puddles were illuminated by stars & leaves brushed our faces, I held tightly to Lea's hand as we stomped through mud, twigs & bramble bushes. After 40 minutes or so, and no inkling of a Nightingale, we heard the distant song... everyone stopped and took a sharp right off the beaten track and got closer and closer to the most beautiful bird song... A NIGHTINGALE! We all sat down in the leaves and just listened. Sam Lee began singing a song with his harmonium and the birds came closer and began to sing with him... I've never heard or experienced anything like it. It felt like you were in a trance. There we were, 20 or so of us, sat on the floor in the forest, on a Sunday night, in the middle of Kent, witnessing musicians communicate with the nightingales. Unbelievable. I recommend this experience to everyone! Magic wild times! See my story for more photos from our evening with the nightingales ✨ •
