Crochet Basics: Single Crochet
I think this video is helpful for beginners in crochet to master the basics of this process. It shows clear instructions that you can follow along with and rewatch as much as you need to. She covers the slip knot, how to hold your hook, the chain stitch, the single crochet stitch, and how to create a rectangular sample swatch.
Homework for the weekend:
Take some time this to practice and get comfortable with the basic single crochet stitch. Please bring in your best example of your progress with this stitch in the form of an 8″ x 8″ sample square of single crochet to class on Monday morning.
Once you are comfortable with the single crochet stitch, feel free to explore further into the crochet structure and learn another stitch or two.
