Arret: Merely another federation planet, with nothing of particular significance, yet it had still managed to find itself on Starfleet radar. The analysis of the planet had been charged to the crew of the USS Enterprise, led by Captain Jim Kirk.

Spock had done his research accordingly, and had become aware of the resources found upon this planet. The most distinguished of which contained medical properties not found on earth, and that, he suspected, was why they had been tasked with the observation.

Another key piece of information that Spock had collected, was that this resource was essential to the planet's atmosphere, although scientists were still unsure as to why.

Spock intended to learn about this material once they had surfaced, and he felt it wise to request Dr. McCoy's assistance and knowledge.
