When SinnerBabs Distorts in her Hypothetical Canto she probably does so quite fast and with little fight because Carmen already 90% convinced her a very long time ago. SinnerBabs' refusal and subsequent unstable manifestation of E.G.O was less of a "No" and more-so "Maybe that's true but I'm not ready yet," so Distorting during the Canto is just the enactment and acceptance of something she saw as an inevitability. Basically she has resigned herself to fate but she's letting herself ignore it for a while. Eventually though she breaks down and has to confront it again and make a choice and all Carmen has to say is probably "Are you ready now?" and Babs goes "Yes. I have spent too long deluding myself. I am ready to accept it now."

but also this is really funny because it means that when she distorts what the other sinners see is essentially
