Highly durable and corrosion resistant sintered mesh grades
Premium quality sintered mesh screens are designed for openhole and cased hole completions with or without the need of gravel pack. The mesh screens feature high robustness, reliability and sand control efficiency and longevity in the vigorous corrosive conditions.
Mesh screens are one of the premium quality filtration media which enable operators to optimize the completion geometry of a mesh during the design and execution of the operation and in some cases the allow for the selection of larger screens for standalone applications.
Mesh screens have an internal drainage layer to provide a uniform standoff between the filter medium and the basepipe and an external drainage layer that offers a uniform standoff between the filter medium and the security shroud. The drainage layers allow uniform flow over the surface area of the filter medium.
A specific screen’s performance reflects the filter medium and the complete screen structure. Mesh slot screens comprise multiple layers of a sintered, woven wire mesh that improve sand screening and plugging resistance. The wire is woven in dutch weave or square weave, based on the required pore size.
Sintering improves strength and mechanical stability of the mesh and holes the pore shape, referring that pore structure does not change during use. Sintered mesh is made from materials for use in high temperature conditions.
Security shroud fits tightly over the external drainage layer, improving the mechanical properties of the screen. Shaping process centers the screen structure and shroud and decreases the diameter of the shroud uniformly to allow contact of inner drainage with outer drainage layer consistently. Tight control of tolerances and diameters ensures uniform sizing. Swaging occurs after the screen is used and one side of the shroud is connected to the basepipe.
Premium quality sintered mesh screens comprises four layers of mesh. The inner drainage layer is open along the axis of the filter medium tubes, having gaps between the filter medium and basepipe.
Mesh screens have also major applications in heat exchanger. In stainless steel heat exchangers, two screens of mesh offer superior performance to single screen. The extra screen offers the same extra surface as the initial, however prevent natural convection which states its reduced effectiveness.
The fabricated stainless steel wire mesh heat exchanger outperforms the tube heat exchanger, which stated the suitability of porous fins as heat exchanger improvers. When evaluating the suitability of mesh wire diameter to heat transfer, thick wire mesh offers significant performance.
Commonly used materials to produce sintered mesh include :
Stainless steel: These steels withstand temperature range up to 800oC. They offer good strength and durability and are highly resistant to corrosion. Commonly used steel grade is SS316.
Monel 400: Monel 400 offers excellent resistance to chemical media and sea water and gives high strength.
Inconel mesh: Inconel grades for mesh screens are well known for their good strength and high resistance to general corrosion, intergranular stress corrosion cracking and other types of corrosion.
