WIP Wednesday
I was tagged by the lovely @notyourmamasdeerbat. This time I managed on actual Wednesday.
This is from my Emmlich WIP. I have issues with with the first chapter and finding the right balance between setting things up quickly and not wanting to rush through.
Siobhan pulled him towards the twinkling lights. “Oh, is this not the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?”
“Indeed, it is.” The tone of his voice was low, somewhat heavy. The type of tone someone had when looking at something compelling, something they should not look at, the way they did. Her cheeks reddened as she felt his eyes burn into the back of her neck.
Pushing her hair behind her ear again she turned around and caught his gaze trained on her face. He looked as if drinking in the most beautiful of sights.
Apparently she had not imagined his attraction towards her.
“Why are you staring at me, Emmrich?” His name sounded like a prayer on her tongue.
“May I ask something?” His hands were clasped in front of him, in that prim and proper way she had grown so very fond of.
“Go on,” she smiled.
“You do not carry the grave gold you should have considering your age and rank.”
“Age and rank,” she scoffed, “Emmrich, I am 32, not ancient.”
“Rook.”
“Alright, alright. But then you need to tell me what you thought about me back then, when we met. Then I will tell you what happened to my Grave Dowry. Deal?”
