i’ll say it (but i won’t tag it because reasons): a lot of people who hate viren, though of course it is justified! some of his actions, esp to his kids, are abhorrent, are forgetting the way dark magic can twist you. if we believe dark magic is truly evil that gives you nothing but trouble (we don’t really have any proof for the opposite), then naturally it also corrupts you. it makes you want to get MORE magic. MORE power.
without aaravos, viren didnt really HAVE the promise of... MORE power, you know? he was still in control of his desires, he knew where to look, to study alone etc and then suddenly comes this ancient mysterious elf who seems to know EVERYTHING and even MORE magic that viren hasnt even DREAMED of and he can suddenly do so much more! he can help humanity! at last, he can conquer those pesky elves who keep messing up his homeland! he can be stronger! wiser! revered as a leader, not a servant he can be MORE
thats it about dark magic, it promises MORE but in the end gives you nothing
"You make us want what we can't have and what you give us is worth nothing and what you take is everything and all there is left for us is the cold hillside, and emptiness, and the laughter of the elves.”

while im excited for more lgbt+ media WHY does every single one HAVE to focus on the fact theyre gay. why does the story have to be accepting who they are, or their struggle to be accepted. why cant the romance just be THERE. and the plot to be something else entirely. why. wh
