"so i'm going entirely by vgperson's translation here but this song manages to make me cry basically every time. if im being honest it's probably something super personal about secondary PTSD but there's just something so deeply freeing about the concept that, despite being cursed to die, the transient apple salesgirl and her companion were the only ones that ever got to Live. they were able to come alive and have a worthwhile existence like a fleeting spark. this song fucks me up because it touches some part of the Reason for being alive, like being alive is more than just survival and sometimes choosing to just Live is enough even if others don't approve of the way you're doing it. and the pastries themselves are such an act of love and creation and an expression of joy and it was choosing to share in that joy with another person that broke the boy's curse and allowed him to live a full life too and. idk this song just tears me to shreds."

"A lot of the parts of this song felt like they described me. This is no longer as much of the case anymore, now that I have realized I'm trans, but a lot of the time "depending on somebody else to lead you on your way" still hits me very hard. This music video is with an older version of the song that I don't like quite as much (I just watched it again and am reconsidering this), but I think greatly affected how this song makes me feel"
