this is a very bittersweet day for me. publiclly, all ill say is, im very happy about the same sex marriage ruling.

in 2008, things were a lot different.

we were a lot different.

you’re the one that influenced me to vote for the first time in my life.

remember how we would talk in hushed voices about the new potential president? and his view on same sex marriage? how excited we were.

it was all we could talk about. i can still remember how fast my heart raced on the night of the election results. all i wanted to do, was hold you tight as we watched. but, we couldn’t. we couldn only sit in front of the tv in sielnce, while your mother sat on the couch behind us, and wait for her to go to the kitchen before looking at one another, squealing, or holding each other’s hands tightly in a quick embrace.

after it was over...and we could finally have a private moment to ourselves....the joy that overwhelmed us that night was intoxicating. 

after all the years we spent longing for one another...the short year and a hlaf we had been together....and now, a step in the right direction for us to be able to marry....

i was so happy. i thought, i had finally gotten my wish. i thought i could finally see the future, finally know what i wanted for the future.

but...things happen.
