This story leaves us wondering many things: Why are the ant and the grasshopper the same height? What kind of self-respecting grasshopper wears a bow-tie? Where are the rest of the ants? Why on earth does that ant live in a house? WHY ARE THEY HOARDING COLORED ROCKS?
It is suddenly winter. There is the house that we are to assume is the ant's and a snow man wearing a fez. The grasshopper enters with snow on his head. *knock, knock* The ant opens the door and you can see a pile of colorful stone things in the back. "I'm hungry." the grasshopper says, shivering and blinking. "Come in." The ant says. "Thanks." The grasshopper seems unrepentant. The true point of this story is lost.
The scene opens in front of what we are to suppose without any help or information is the ant's house. There is a pile of colorful rock things in the back with a sign on them. "Let's play badminton." The grasshopper says, and I wonder briefly if this book knows about end marks. "Sounds good." the ant says. And they play.
"Let's sing!" The obviously misguided grasshopper shouts over the sound of his guitar while the ant (who is wearing an orange hat) shuffles slowly past with a large rock on his back. "Sorry, I can't. I'm busy," The ant says, though if I were the ant I would have growled it. "That's too bad," The grasshopper says. I think he's kind of stupid.
"Lets dance!" A grasshopper wearing a red bow-tie shouts at an ant pushing a wheelbarrow. "Sorry, I can't. I'm busy." The ant replies, his cheeks flushed from effort as he pushes around what looks like a bunch of colorful rocks. "That's too bad," The grasshopper responds, not sounding in the least bit like he really cares.
Old male teacher in my office just asked me for my height and weight. Where the fuck am I?
