chapter 6

- - - -Help for Severus- - - -

Harry has been at Spinner's End for nearly a week now and spent most of his time in libraries to find a way back to his time. Now he is on his way back from another library and notices some older kids bullying Severus. He goes over and listens in a moment. "Hey Snape what are you doing here? This is our playground and we don't want kids like you here." "Yeah who would want to play with someone like you anyway. The only reason Lilly plays with you is pity. Like all of us she doesn't really like you.""Leave me alone. Lilly does like me and she is not the only one." "Oh hear hear. And who else should like you?" "Me!" Harry steps in and the kids turn around to face him. "I tell you once and only once: Stay away from Severus or you will regret it." They look at him and, sensing danger from him, they leave a little scared. Do you want to play soccer Severus?" Harry conjures a ball inside his bag and takes it out. Severus nods eagerly "Yes please. And thank you for helping me." “It’s no problem Severus. Come on let’s play.” They play for the rest of the afternoon without interruption. Severus and Harry come back to Spinner’s End in the evening and Severus runs to Eileen excitedly. “Mummy it was so much fun today. Some boys from across the street tried to bully me but Harry stopped them and made them leave me alone from now on. After that we played soccer.” Eileen smiles gently and listens carefully. “That sounds like a lot of fun. I hope all of that made you hungry because dinner is ready.” Severus nods fast. “Yes very!” Eileen smiles and starts to put up the dishes. “Then go and wash your hands Sev.” He runs to the bathroom and Harry helps her put up the plates. “Thank you Harry.” “Don’t mention it Eileen. I’ve been bullied as a child myself. I won’t let that happen to Severus as well.” She nods. “I understand but still thank you.” He nods smiling and puts the last plate down when Severus comes back. They sit down and have dinner before Severus has to go to bed. Once he’s asleep Eileen and Harry sit down with a cup of tea and have a look at what Harry found out about the possibilities to go back into his time. “So I found something very interesting. There is an old note about a way to rearrange a time-turner to send you into the future without sending you back after some time.” Eileen smiles at Harry. “That’s great.  Do you have instructions for that?” He nods and gives her the copy he made of the pages with the instructions. She reads through them and nods slowly. “We can do that. I will start getting what we need for it tomorrow right away. We should be able to fix it up in a few days.” Harry nods gratefully.  “Thank you very much Eileen. I hope it works.” She smiles and puts the cups away. “It is late already. We should go to bed.” He nods and gets up. “Good idea Eileen. There is a lot to do tomorrow. Good night…” He goes to bed and falls asleep quickly.

- - - -Back with Hermione- - - -

Hermione picks Severus up, smiling gently. “Shall we go play a bit Severus?” He nods slowly. Hermione carries him to the play pen and the box full of toys next to it. “Do you want to choose?” Severus grabs into the boy immediately and pulls out a small ball. “Oh you want to play ball now?” He smiles cutely. She sits down in front of him and he rolls the ball towards her. She smiles and rolls it back gently. He laughs happily. “Do you like that?” He nods and rolls it again. They play for some time till Severus gets tired. Hermione smiles and picks him up again. “It was a long day…Lets go to bed Severus.” he whines but let’s himself be picked nonetheless. She carries him to the nursery and sits down in the rocking chair with him. Severus cuddles into her and closes his eyes tiredly when she starts rocking back and forth while humming softly. He falls asleep slowly and she lays him down in his crib. She puts a charm on him that notifies her should he wake up or have a nightmare before she goes back to her homework and then to bed. The next morning she asks the house-elves to prepare a light breakfast and a lunchbox for Severus for the day. She also asks them to tell Dumbledore that she was going shopping with Severus in Diagon Alley. Then she prepares his bag and quietly goes into his nursery to wake him up. Severus is still fast asleep and she picks him up carefully. “Wake up Severus. It’s time to start this wonderful day” she whispers gently and he wakes up slowly. He yawns and looks up at her a little confused but then he suddenly remembers and closes his eyes to shut out his feelings. She cuddles him close and rocks him a little. “Hush…We’ll find a way to get you back to your normal age. I promise.” He looks up at her sadly and nods slowly. “Today we have a lot to do. We are going shopping for you.” He looks up happily. “You like that?” He nods fast. “Let’s get you ready for the day then.” She smiles and goes to the bathroom with him to get him changed before she would let him choose what to wear. He gets red from embarrassment again. “Calm down Severus. It’s alright. I’ll make quick work.” She changed him as fast as possible and picks him up again. “Come on now Severus. Let’s see what clothes we have for you to wear.” Severus nods sullenly and Hermione carries him back to the nursery. She opens the door to his small wardrobe. “Look at this Severus. So many different clothes.  Which one would you like to wear today?” He looks up slowly, his eyes grow wide and he points at various different sets of clothes excitedly. “Da! Da! Da!” Hermione laughs quietly and shakes her head. “I’m sorry Severus. You have to choose one for today. You can wear the others over the next few days. I promise.” He nods slowly and thinks hard to decide. Hermione waits patiently, watching Severus, smiling gently. In the end Severus points at a set of dark blue clothes. Hermione takes it out and dresses Severus quickly. “Dobby?” The house-elf appears immediately. “Yes Miss Ganger? How can Dobby help you?” “I wanted to ask you if you could get me a buggy or something else with which I can drive Severus around” she asks quietly.  “Yes Miss Granger. Dobby will get it right away.” He pops away to get what was asked for. Hermione starts feeding Severus in the meantime. Soon Dobby pops back in with a dark green and blue buggy. Severus looks at the buggy excitedly and makes grabby hands. “Calm down Severus. We need to get to Hogsmeade first. We can’t use the buggy till then because of the uneven ground outside.” Severus looks at Hermione sadly and with pleading eyes. “We’ll hurry. I promise.” She picks him up and cuddles him. She puts the bag in the buggy and shrinks it to put it in her jacket. “Let’s go then. Dobby please tell Professor Dumbledore that we’re leaving now. We’ll have lunch there and be back till dinner the latest.” Dobby nods and pops away again. Hermione grabs a warm jacket for Severus to wear and puts it on him. She picks him up again and leaves the castle for Hogsmeade. On their way through the castle everyone stares at them, wondering who this baby could be. It makes Severus nervous that so many people were staring at him so he hides his face in Hermione’s shoulder. She smiles gently and holds him close while hurrying outside. “Hermione!” Severus tenses. Of course they have to run into the Weasley boy. Hermione stops and turns to Ron. “Hello Ron. I’m sorry but I have no time right now. I need to go to Diagon Alley to buy some things for the child.” She avoids using Severus name on purpose. “But we wanted to go to Hogsmeade today. Why do you have to go shopping for /him/ anyway?” “Ronald! I’m not going because someone made me but because I want to myself. So please leave it at that, I have to go now. See you later Ron.” Ron looked at her in disbelief. “He’s not worth it Hermione. Why do you have to look after him anyway? Couldn’t someone else do it? Someone like him? Malfoy for example.” “I can’t believe you Ronald. He deserves it more than you. You’re an arrogant brat right now and you know I don’t like that. I look after him because I want to and I don’t trust someone like Malfoy to look after a baby properly. So now excuse me. Have a nice day.” She turns around angrily and leaves the castle for Hogsmeade. “Are you alright Sev? Ron was really mean to you. I’m sorry for that.” Severus cuddles against her sadly believing Ron even though knowing deep down that he’s wrong. Hermione holds him close and tries to comfort him all the way. He starts to calm down and forgets the situation like every baby does at that age, showing that his baby side comes through more and more.

Hermione looks through the stores in Hogsmeade briefly before entering The Three Broomsticks. She goes to the bartender and asks him if they could use his fireplace to floo to Diagon Alley. He allows it and in that moment Dobby pops up again with a stomach soother for Severus. He takes it and they leave through the fireplace for The Leaky Cauldron.

chapter 5

- - - -The next morning at Spinner's End- - - -

Harry wakes up quite early and goes down into the kitchen. He starts making breakfast and Eileen is surprised to find breakfast ready when she comes down half an hour later. Smiling she comments "I could get used to that, coming down to find our breakfast already on the table. But you don't have to do it you know that right?"

Harry nods, answering politely "Good morning Eileen. I know I don't have to do this but I want to. As long as I have to stay I want to help. Otherwise I would feel like a burden." Eileen nods.

"Good morning dear. You can help if you really want to. I won't stop you but you don't have to. Don't forget that. I will go and get Severus now."

"Wait Eileen.You sit down, I will get Severus. Tea should be ready any minute." Eileen smiles and nods in thanks.y goes upstairs and finds Severus' door already open. He steps closer and hears Severus' frightened voice begging. Harry has heard enough to know what is going on. He storms into the room and sends Tobias flying against a wall. Harry kneels down in front of Severus.

"It's alright Sev. He won't hurt you. I'm right here and won't let him. You're safe." Severus looks up, scared and teary eyed. Harry opens his arms instinctively and Severus dives into him, clinging tightly to his shirt. Harry gets up and goes out of the room, the shaking Severus still in his arms. He goes over to his own room and sits down on the bed, leaning against the headboard, cradling Severus close. Harry starts humming a soft tune and just stays where he is. Eileen hears her husband connecting with the wall and goes upstairs. She calls for Severus, seeing her husband lying on the floor, unconscious. Harry hears her calling and answers "We're in the guestroom, Eileen." She goes over to them and sees that Severus isn't hurt but scared. She looks grim,  goes into the bedroom, lets her magic pack Tobias' things and then goes over to Severus' room. Tobias is standing up when Eileen comes in, looking at him furiously. She throws the bags down in front of him, only saying one sentence before going out again "I want you gone in 5 minutes ad not another word to one of us or nobody will find your body." She goes and asks Harry and Severus to come down for breakfast while she's going down herself. Harry gets up, sets Severus down, takes his hand and goes down. Tobias on the other hand stands shellshocked in Severus room looking at the bags at his feet. Realising what is happening to him Tobias sighs, takes the bags and goes down. Looking one last time at his family having breakfast with Harry, Tobias leaves the house, not knowing that he changes the lives of a lot of people with that. Now there is more peace at Spinner's End and Severus can have a better life without getting pushed around by everyone.

- - - -At Hogwarts- - - -

When Hermione is finished with her homeworks, she gets up and lays Snape in his cradle, leaving the door open while going into her own room to unpack her trunk. She gets interrupted by silent sobbing, immediately thinking something happened to Snape. Hurrying over she draws her wand, expecting some kind of trouble.

"Severus what's the matter? Are you hurt or something?" Hermione asks, coming to stand right beside the cradle. Finding no scratch or wound on Snape she sheathes her wand again. Snape looks up at her with tears streaming down his cheeks. Suddenly he throws his arms up and cries harder. Hermione lifts him up and cradles him close.

"It's okay Severus. I'm here. Nothing is going to hurt you. You're safe. What happened sweetheard? Did you have a nightmare?"

Severus shakes his head silently.

"Okay. Were you scared I would have left because I wasn't in the room when you woke up?"

At first Snape doesn't react but after a while he nods reluctantly.

"Oh sweety...I won't leave you. I'll be near even if I'm not in the same room. No need to be scared." She rubs soothing circles over his back. Snape clings to her and cries silently. "Shhh...I'm here. Don't cry. You're not alone."

Slowly Snape calms down and just cuddles with her before the adult in him notices what he does. He starts to struggle, blushing. Hermione chuckles softly and sits him down in his cradle. "Calm down  Professor. Whatever happens in these quarters stays in here. I won't tell anyone. Not even Ron or Harry." He looks at her, clearly not believing her. She sighs and stands up straight.

"I, Hermione Granger, swear on my life and magic that I won't tell anyone about things happening in these quarters without the permission of Professor Severus Snape."

Snape looks at her with big, shocked eyes, not believing what just happened. "Are you believing me now Professor?" Hermione smiles at him. He nods slowly, thinking how he deserves such a guardian, who makes such a strong vow just to help him feel comfortable. Severus holds out his arms to be picked up again.

chapter 4

- - - -Meeting the younger Snape properly- - - -

While listening to Eileen rant Harry thinks about Snape again and how different he is as a child from the snarky, overconfident, evil teacher he knows. Or better thinks to know.

Suddenly Harry gets a determined look on his face and goes upstairs to Severus' room. He knocks quietly and then waits for Severus to open the door. It takes some minutes till the door opens a crack. Harry waits patiently because he wants Severus to trust him and and not scare him by acting like his father. Severus looks up at Harry through the crack and asks quietly "Who are you? What do you want from me?" Harry smiles at him, Severus is so adorable. " I am Harry and I just want to talk to you to get to know you." Severus doesn't look convinced but lets Harry in nonetheless. Harry sits down on Severus bed and tries to start a conversation with him. "So you are Severus. How old are you?"

"I am 5 years old" Severus replies proudly. Again Harry smiles at Severus, who seems to enjoy the attention. "So you are a big boy already. That's great. What are your hobbies? I love to fly on a broom and to play quidditch, what about you?" Severus smile falters a bit. Harry immediately reassures "You don't have to tell me but I promise what is said in this room stays in this room as long as you don't give me your permission to tell it." Severus thinks about it for a moment and then smiles again before telling Harry about his hobbies. To say they surprise Harry is an understatement. "I love to play football even though I have none and nobody wants to play with me except Lilly. I also love to play tag and other games with Lilly. When I'm old enough I want to play quidditch and fly in general. I love to read and I love potions. Mummy sneaks some potionjournals in my room for me from time to time and when Daddy is away she teaches me the theories of the basic potions. What they are for, how to brew them and so on. Do you like potions?"

Harry smiles at Severus, surprised and nods in answer to his question. "I like potions very much. I am in my sixth year at Hogwarts and my potions professor hates me because my father made fun of him in school so I have to learn potions on my own. But it works quite well, a friend of mine, Hermione, is a very bright witch and helps me out if I don't understand some things."

Severus looks surprised. "Why would he hate you for something your father did when you weren't even born? What happened is not your fault at all."

"Well except my eyes I look exactly like my father. The professor can't distinguish me and his arch enemy. He doesn't see that I am more like my mother than my father. He assumes because I look like my father I also have to be like him. But that is okay. I don't like him either and can totally live without fair grades in potions." Harry again smiles but this time it is a bitter smile. Severus gets the feeling that he doesn't want to know what Harry means. After mere seconds Harry's smile turns friendly again. "So tell me more about you. Who is this Lilly you are talking about?" Severus' face lights up and he starts telling about his best and only friend, Lilly Evans. Harry absorbs everything Severus tells him because even though Harry knows a lot about James, he knows nearly nothing about his mother. It is good to hear about her now. They sit on Severus' bed and talk for a long time about their friends and adventures. After some time Eileen comes in and brings them something to eat and drink. When it is time for dinner Severus thinks of Harry as his big friend. They are both happy when they fall asleep that night. Both have smiles on their faces when they drift off to dreamland.

- - - -at Hermione's and Snape's new quarters- - - -

"So here we are. These will be your quarters. The house elves will bring your things here soon. You will already find a nursery for Severus and some things like clothes, toys and so on. You define the password Ms. Granger and only tell it those you trust not to surprise you here. The Weasley-twins are no good choice for obvious reasons. You Mr. Weasley will follow me. You still have class. Ms. Granger is free for the next few days to settle in. I will ask Neville Longbottom to bring you any notes and homeworks so you don't fall behind in your studies. Good day Ms. Granger, Severus." After this speech professor McGonagall leaves Hermione, with Snape on her arm, alone and Ron has no other choice that following the professor. Hermione turns around to face the portrait.

"What will your password be lass?" an old looking dwarf asks. Looking at the dwarf and remembering an old book from her childhood that she adored, Hermione answers with a smile "Thorin Oakenshield!"

"Good choice. He was a good lad, a good leader in the Ered Luin an on our quest to Erebor. He would have been a good king for our people in Erebor. As would have been Fili and Kili. It is really tragic what happend in the Battle of the Five Armies. They had great futures in their lives before them but they never got the chance..."

"Why am I not surprised? What is your name Master Dwarf if I may as?"

"You may. Dori at your service." The dwarf bows low. Hermione makes a courtesy.

"Hermione at yours and this is Severus Snape." Dori bows again and in the next moment the portrait swing to the side revealing a round entrance leading in a small hall. The hall ends in  a small living area with a fireplace at the back of the room. On the left side of the hall are two doors leading to the nursery and a bedroom for Hermione.On the right side of the hall are a small study and the bathroom. Hermione goes through every room, then sits down in front of the fireplace and cuddles with Snape while trying to understand what happened. After some time Hermione feels Snape getting restless on her lap. A quick look at his face shows her his problem. Without saying a word she stands up and goes to the bathroom. Snape starts squirming, getting even redder in his face. Hermione starts rubbing the back of the distressed child. In the bathroom Hermione lays Snape down and starts searching for a new diaper while Snape lays still, eyes closed and completely mortified. Once she finds the new diaper she starts changing Snape as fast as possible. When she is finished she picks him up and leaves the bathroom. Still, Snape has yet to move on his own and open his eyes. Hermione leaves him alone for some time and just holds him close. After all, he of all people has to adjust to the most changes in this situation. He is a proud, independent and confident person and now he is small again, is not yet able to walk or speak and needs help with everything. He has to let go of his pride. in order for Hermione to help and that needs time. After half an hour she gets up and goes into the nursery while humming a small merry tune. In the nursery she picks up a book, sits down in a rocking chair and starts reading aloud in a quiet voice. This shows the desired effect after some pages. Snape sits up a bit straighter and tries to see the book a bit better. Smiling, Hermione lowers the book enough for Snape to look at it, too. When the book is finished, Snape is asleep, his left thumb in his mouth and his right hand clutched tightly around one of Hermione's locks. Hermione smiles at him, shifts him into her left arm, goes into the study and starts her homework, the sleeping Snape still in her arm.

chapter 3

- - - - What happened to Harry meanwhile - - - -

 “Who are you?” Harry smiles at Mrs. Snape. “My name is Harry Potter. I am the son of Lilly Evans and James potter. This might be confusing because I think Lilly Evans should be about five years now if your son is any indication.” Mrs. Snape nods simply too shocked to speak.

 So Harry goes on “I assume we are at Spinner’s End right now and I kind of got sucked into the past of my potions professor. I have no idea how I came here or how I can go back in my time. It can’t possibly get worse.” Mrs. Snape looks at harry sympathetically. “You can stay here for a while. I don’t want to stand by anymore when Tobias attacks our son for nothing while drunk. I put up with him long enough and I have to thank you for intervening and opening my eyes. I assume from what you just said that my son is a potions professor in your time and that you are here because of an accident there in potions class involving a wrongly reacting potion, my son and you. What potion did you have to make, may I ask? Maybe I can help.” Harry smiles thankfully at her. “We had to brew another dreamless-sleep potion but another student threw an unknown ingredient into my potion and it exploded, hitting the professor and myself. when I looked in his eyes I started to vanish. Next thing I know I wake up quite a distance outside this town. It may have the advantage that I understand the behavior of the Professor a little bit better. I now understand why he doesn’t like me because of my father.” Mrs. Snape nods thoughtfully. "My father was a Bully who picked on the professor all the time at school for his appearance. I hope my interference changes this a bit and it is a bit better for him."

She nods. "I haven't heard of such a reaction from a dreamless-sleep potion before but there are various locations I know of where we can try to find answers. I will try to help you the best I can but for now could you please release my husband once I've got  my wand from its hiding place. It is time I tell Tobias what I think of his behavior. I won't tolerate any violence against my son. Not anymore and especially not from his own father.Come with me Mr. Potter. I get my wand and we solve this." Harry nods and adds "please call me Harry, Mrs. Snape. Hearing my last name usually means that trouble found me again." Mrs. Snape laughs and agrees under one condition "okay but only when you call me Eileen."  After Harry nodes he follows her out of the room and up the stairs to the bedroom door. Eileen gets her wand from a magically hidden cupboard in the wall next to the door and shows Harry the room he will be staying in. While explaining everything she uses her magic to prepare his room. Then she leads him back down and inclines her head towards Tobias. Harry nods again and cancels the spell. Tobias stumbles forward and wants to attack Harry again immediately but he restrains himself because Harry still has his wand pointed at him. Just now Tobias registers his wife pointing her wand at him, too. He tries to regain control by ordering his wife around.

"Eileen do something. He attacked me with your magic. He is one of you so make him leave. Now! I won't..." She interrupts him. "Shut up Tobias. You won't give orders to anyone in this house anymore."

"Eileen!" Tobias exclaims, shocked. "I said shut up. I warn you. One more word and I will silence you. It will take me only one single word. Now is the time for you to listen and nothing else. Do you understand that?" Tobias just nods, unable to say something as surprised as he is. Eileen never used such a tone before. Harry stands quietly at the side while Eileen sets Tobias straight.

- - - -The headmaster's thoughts- - - -

Dumbledore looks at the baby in Hermione's arms, thinking *Oh Severus how did you get yourself into such a situation?* Aloud he asks Hermione "what happened my girl?" Hermione tells him exactly what happened and how she found Snape.

"Mr. Malfoy will be punished but right now we have more pressing matters at hand. First of all Madame Pomfrey needs to check Severus for any injuries. Then we need to find a place for him to stay because he can't under any circumstances fall into Voldemord's hands. Meanwhile a friend of mine will try to find out what this potion really does and how we can reverse it. Hopefully we find out what happened to Harry soon." Hermione starts rocking Snape once more because he becomes distressed again.

"Professor Snape will stay with me if you allow it, Sir. I won't let any harm come to him till my last breath. If necessary I will fight You-know-who himself if it keeps him safe." Both Snape and Dumbledore can see the determination and truth behind her words. Snape is shocked to realise that someone really cares for him and not just pretends to do so. He can't understand why Hermione would like him at all. Nonetheless die to keep him safe if necessary. In that moment he wishes nothing more than being able to speak to ask her why. "...will get your own rooms then. I fear it won't be such a good idea to let you stay in Gryffindortower with their most hated professor, as they claim. Madame Pomfrey will explain everything to you to help you care for a child this small. He may be an adult in his mind but his body is the one of a child." Drawn from his thoughts by Dumbledores voice Snape starts to listen again while unconsciously snuggling closer to Hermione. He looks at Dumbledore and doesn't notice Hermione's loving smile directed at him. Dumbledore however sees the smile and is glad to have found such a caring and loving person for Snape to stay. Professor McGonagall, who stood at the side all the time watching silently, steps closer and reminds the others of another important aspect. "What will we tell the students and parents about what happened here? We can't tell them the truth obviously." Dumbledore looks thoughtfully at Snape. "We will tell them half of the truth. Mr. Malfoy tinkered with with Mr. Potters potion  which ended with Mr. Potter and professor Snape getting injured. We will seclude an area in the back of the infirmary and give official orders that no student is allowed near them. We need to tell Sirius and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley what really happened." "But I think it best not to tell Sirius about Severus. We don't want the past to repeat itself" argues professor McGonagall immediately. Dumbledore nod. Suddenly Hermione pipes up "Sir may I tell Ron the truth?" "Sure you can under the condition that he doesn't tell it anyone, not even his siblings." Hermione nods and in that moment the door bursts open again to reveal an alarmed Madame Pomfrey. Ron stays outside the room and waits despite his curiousity and worry for his friend. They would kick him out again anyway. Madame Pomfrey examines Snape closely before deciding that his body is about ten months old while his mind is still in his adult state. She wants to explain Hermione everything it takes to take care of a baby but Hermione interrupts by informing the adults about her summer job. Professor McGonagall leads Hermione and Snape to their new quarters a shocked an confused Ron trailing behind much to Snape’s amusement.

chapter 2

- - - -Back with Harry- - - -

Harry walked along the street for about half an hour by now and still sees no house or other indication of where he could be. But then suddenly upon reaching a small wood the street turns to the right around said woods. Harry follows on and behind the trees he sees the first houses of a small town or so it seems to him. Little does he know where he really is. Harry heads for the door and wants to knock when he hears yelling from inside.

“Severus Snape come here immediately!”

“Tobias leave him alone.”

To say Harry is surprised would be an understatement, he is shocked. His professor is there and gets yelled at? Harry is really confused about that thought and who is Tobias? Quickly Harry ducks behind a bush and tiptoes over to the nearest window.

He expects to see his teacher giving this Tobias a piece of his mind in his calm but cold manner. What Harry actually sees is something completely different and something he never expected in his wildest and most horrible dreams. There stands a man looking on a little familiar in front of a child- sized version of Severus Snape. In contrast to the Snape Harry knows this younger version looks terribly frightened. Harry guesses his age to be about four or five years. Harry wonders why Snape seems so scared but mere moments later he gets his answer when the man slaps the child across the face. Suddenly a woman appears and tries to protect Snape. Then many things happen at once.

“Don’t hurt him, Tobias” screams the woman but Tobias only pushes her out of his way.  At the same time Harry comes through the door using magic to prevent the woman from falling and calling all the while to Tobias “I agree with your wife. If you want to hurt that innocent child any further you have to get past me, you excuse of a muggle. The same goes for your wife. I came here to ask nicely where I am and what date it is. I never expected to meet a muggle like you.”

Tobias’ face gets as white as the wall behind him and then red with fury.

“How dare you barge into my house and tell me how I have to treat my family, you insolent boy. I will show you the error of your judgement.” With these words Tobias Snape throws himself at Harry not registering the wand in the other’s hand, ready to stop him.

“Please Mrs. Snape you don’t have to worry because of me, I won’t hurt anyone, not even this muggle… Is there a way I could talk to you alone for a minute? There are some things I would like to understand with your help.” While speaking Harry puts Tobias in a complete body bind. When Mrs. Snape nods, Harry steps closer to Tobias and makes his point clear one last time. “Believe me muggle when I say that you will regret the day you were born if you lay a hand on your wife or son ever again I will hunt you down and make your life a living hell without breaking any law. None of yours or any of ours. I hope I made myself clear if not I will let you stand here a while longer. Just in case.” Harry turns around and follows Mrs. Snape into the kitchen after she sends Severus Snape to his room. She faces him without hesitation. “Who are you?”

 Hermione bends over the desk, wand in hand just in case, and looks at something that seems to be a pile of clothes … moving clothes. Carefully she steps around the desk and picks up one end of the seemingly largest piece of cloth. She freezes in her movement when she finds a baby lying within this pile. The baby reminds Hermione of Professor Snape and neither seeing Harry anywhere nor Professor Snape she assumes this must be the Professor. She calls out to Ron “go get the headmaster or Professor McGonagall and be quick. It’s urgent.” “Hermione what happened?” asks Ron now slightly worried. “We have no time for questions. Hurry and don’t you dare bring Professor Black. Harry isn’t here so it’s none of his business.” “What do …” “Ron go. I will explain it later if the headmaster agrees.” She hears footsteps going away and focuses her attention back on her professor. Now she is glad she had to babysit the 10-month-old son of her neighbors in the summer holidays so often. “Hey there, professor. Do you allow me to pick you up? Just raise your hands then.” immediately two tiny arms shot up. Hermione smiles and picks him up as promised. She wraps him in some of his old ropes and cradles him in her arms. He doesn’t want to admit it but it really feels nice to be held like that. Unconsciously he snuggles deeper into her embrace which makes her smile even more. But then she rearranges him so he lays on one arm while she can save two samples of the potion with her free arm. Then she starts thinking out loud in hopes that Snape gives any indication when her thoughts take a wrong turn. “Okay this potion is basically the dreamless-sleep potion we had to do today even if poorly brewed. That in itself is unusual for Harry but I will talk to him about it when we have found him. So this one ingredient changed the dreamless sleep into … what? A de-aging potion which only affects the body? I mean you still have your adult memories as it seems but your body isn’t old enough to let you speak right?” When no protest comes from Snape she goes on. “I wish you would be able to talk so we would know what happened to Harry … but it’s okay for now.” she quickly adds when she feels this thought is upsetting Snape. “Wherever Harry is right now, he is much stronger than he lets on so we don’t have to worry about him too much. Even without his wand he is a very strong wizard believe it or not. We should focus on you and how to care for you the best. Hopefully Ron really does as I told him and gets the headmaster or Professor McGonagall here as fast as possible because you can’t stay in these robes and most importantly you shouldn’t fall in the hands of any Slytherin with connections to You-Know-Who.” At that Snape starts shaking slightly because the prospect of falling in the Dark Lords hands in this condition could be fatal. Hermione starts rocking Snape and tries to calm him down enough to listen to her. When the rocking shows an effect on Snape she starts talking to him. “You’ll be fine, professor- No one in this school will let something happen to a child this small. We’ll protect you. I won’t let him get you as long as I am alive. No need to be afraid. You’re safe here. I promise you I will keep you safe to the best of my ability.” Snape thinks these promises to be in vain because she doesn’t stand a chance against the Dark Lord or any of his followers. Still it is comforting to know that someone at least pretends to care for him even if he would never admit it. Suddenly the door bursts open and Snape feels Hermiones arms tighten around him. A moment later she relaxes again because only Professor McGonagall and the headmaster come into the room followed by Ron. Upon seeing Hermione with a baby in her arms the headmaster sends Ron to get Madame Pomfrey immediately. Without any protest Ron does as ordered and runs off. “What happened my dear girl?” asks the headmaster calmly even though Snape can see the shock in his eyes.

Sometimes I wish I didn't believe so strongly in the things that I do because arguing with EVERYONE around me about them is so incredibly exhausting, I just wish I didn't have to do it. But my blood boils when I don't so I really can't win. 

Shouts out to Audrey and Emily who are in line with my beliefs and help me feel sane when everyone else is driving me up a wall.
