“Sirius.”
Normally, she ignored him.
Who was he, really, but another stranger in the hallways? It had been unfortunate to witness her favored cousin’s descent, and oh how she had tried, in her way, to save him. It had been hopeless. A sickness had gotten into his ill brain and there was no return from such a low. She no longer beat herself up for his decisions.
That was on Walburga and Orion. Failures, they were.
But now, she saw him, just ahead, his familiar gait and that disheveled thing on his head that he called hair beckoning her. Bellatrix spoke before she could stop herself, and stopping herself from urges was her expertise. She almost ducked into a nearby classroom, flustered and annoyed, but Bellatrix Black was tired of keeping her head down.
Perhaps he had not heard her.
