missglenda:
It was usually a mess in Glenda’s head - never stopping, always thinking about one, two, ten things at once, always way too aware of herself and always wondering when the next opportunity to embarrass herself would come that she can’t avoid no matter how much she would want to. But ever since New Years Eve and that kiss, ever since she found out what it was like to feel his lips against hers, it was a whole new mess in her head. She didn’t really know what to do with it, how to think about anything else but that kiss or wonder what it really meant, especially after Peter didn’t even seem to care about it all while all she wanted was to do it again and again and countless more times, if that was possible.
And that stupid, dumb, annoying, sexy dream had to happen and even just thinking about it made Glenda turn completely red, but at the same time, she couldn’t get it out of her head even more than the kiss and she literally had no idea how she was going to be able to stand in front of Peter after it, because she was sure she was not going to be able to utter a word after seeing his pe– well, his dream pe– that.
She wasn’t going to think about it. She wasn’t going to think about it. She wasn’t going to thi-
And suddenly Peter was standing in front of her and all she could see was that dream and think about his lips against hers and she had to force herself from looking at his lips or even worse, his crotch, because she was cool. He was cool about all of this, so she was cool about it too, and he did not need to know about that dream, nothing, never. And still, her “P-Peter, hi. Hello, hi,” came off as weird and awkward and stutter-y and she might have been looking at his shoulder instead of his eyes. Because if she looked into his eyes, she would be so far gone. Or, well, more gone than she already was.
For a second, running away did cross her mind, but she immediately pushed it aside. She didn’t run away when she randomly walked up to him for the first time and didn’t have the faintest clue about what to say, and since then, she started getting to know him and he was just so amazing, funny, kind. How could she ever run away from somebody like him. She might not want to embarrass herself, but she wanted to talk to him more. So she shook her head and smiled, hoping she wasn’t completely red and hoping that he didn’t catch on the fact that she wasn’t exactly looking into his eyes. She only had to get through a little bit, and then she would forget about that damn dream and not feel awkward anymore, right? “I mean, yeah, yes, I’d– like that. Yeah.”
She already sounded flustered once she noticed him in front of her and it already made him think that she definitely remembered New Years Eve. Part of him was now thinking that maybe he should have just kept walking down the corridor instead of stopping in front of her but he immediately disregarded that because he knew it would have been rude. Sure things were a little awkward, but when it came to the two of them there was always some little hint of awkward mixed into any and all conversations.
He gave her a smile, not even noticing that he was doing something very similar to her and not actually looking her directly in the eye. He still wanted to hang out with her but he didn’t want to mess things up by getting into his own head too much. If he got distracted thinking about kissing her again he would be a mess. “Great, yeah, thought you’d wanna take out that new lighter of yours ya know, gotta check up and see if you’re gettin’ better at this.” He told her, a quick chuckle passing his lips as he tilted his head to the side to gesture for her to follow along. Peter was trying his best to keep things lighthearted, but as he began walking and he looked away from her he made a face that screamed what am I saying?
Looking back to make sure she was actually following, he paused so that the two could walk side by side as opposed to him running up in front of her. Peter glanced over to her a couple times, trying his best to remain inconspicuous about it. He only focused on her for a moment before he immediately went back to looking straight ahead of him. The silence between them was painful and he tried to think of something to say that wouldn’t sound strange or out of the ordinary. “So, the rest of your break went alright, yeah? I don’t think I asked how things were after...uh New Years.” he said before he could stop himself, pulling his pack of cigarettes from his pocket when they reached outside.
