She licks my ear and I let her
I'm not saying I hate it. I think she feels excited about getting to belong. She has a whole court of pest animals under her rule but still feels a sense of displacement. Weird, huh?
She shoves her tongue down my ear and I let her
I know she's pushing me on purpose, seeing how far I can be prodded until I back out. Or until I no longer back out at all. I feel a growing sense of dread I try to ignore, about letting a hawk fly this close to the henhouse. They can defend themselves just fine, right?
She pushes her tongue past my tonsils and I let her
(I learn to not swallow. I don't need to anymore)
It feels gross. I know I shouldn't associate with monsters. But when she says things like, "You either let the hurt pluck your feathers or use it to fly even the more furious!", or "Hurt is like a deep lake sometimes. The deeper it is, you can't see the bottom; can't understand what lie there. You'd drown!", I can't help running my fingers through her downy neck with affection. I can't help looking into the distant holes of her eyes for that spark of humanity she keeps close.
She slides her tongue into my - I don't really keep track anymore. I'm sure she's doing this for her own reasons, just like me. It'd be hypocritical to shun her at this point.
I pull her tongue out of her mouth and she let's me. Because I'm her only friend.
