I love your blog! My opinion on his sister has been ambiguous this whole time. But seeing your posts and different viewpoints made me appreciate her more! But I’m surprised that some reasons against her are just baseless claims; is it that hard reading the dialogue or even paying attention to the class trial?!

Honestly, being a fan of her and keeping my finger on the pulse of the fandom opinion of her feels like staring into the abyss. A lot of people don't care about the actual text and even the fan wiki has lies on it.

I believe people just hate the idea of a character they like being an participant in things they find uncomfortable. People try to take everything they find unsavory about Korekiyo and push it onto Sister or blame it for her completely.

Korekiyo is an indepedent individual and danganronpa has such a straightforward narrative structure that if we were supposed to be believe that Sister was totally evil and responsible for everything it'd be obvious.

Korekiyo is not just a misogynist because he murders women, but I also think we need to explore how his sister exists in his own mind as his lover, source of comfort, and not much else.

Like the way he reflects on and presents her is basically the way a narrative talks about a dead wife character whose only traits are "pretty" and "dead".

Post-mortem she's loved more like an idealized figure or object than a person.

Where is her complexity as a person Korekiyo...

Surely a man who fixates on what behavior is proper for women wouldn't erase details about his sister that don't fit his narrative ideal.... Surely not...

Sorry this is so unprovoked but every time I see someone going above and beyond in their hatred for sister my brain immediately jumps to the Confucian family, chronic illness in buddhism and shintoism, women’s place in shintoism (and japan and WORLDWIDE IN GENERAL), Japanese Buddhism’s place in ww2 and it’s like, well you wanna bring reality and real family dynamics into this well sure let’s bring reality into this. This is so dumb sorry I just wanted to say this feel free to ignore my incoherent not even well articulated rant :,)

Not unprompted at all! I honestly wish people would do a few seconds more thinking when it came to her and different contexs you can read her in beyond just well evil abuser woman. Misogyny is like totally off the table talking about her both in and out of universe it's ridiculous.

I don't know if you've already said so or not, but what do you think Sister's ultimate talent would be? I assume she wanted to be an anthropologist, but couldn't because she was sick (and then there's the whole "she pushed kiyo to study anthropology so it could be inferred she wanted to live through him") but idk aside from Could've Been The Ultimate Anthropologist, what other talent could she have?

I haven't shared a talent for her because I've got a few ideas in mind! In things like my roleswap au, there's an assumption that her health has improved significantly.

My initial idea for her was connected to Japanese tea ceremonies. They have a lot of cultural significance and would involve skills with story telling and floral arrangements. Anything with a traditional vibe seems to suit her.

Though my most recent idea has been Ultimate Rakugoka. I feel like a storyteller also really suits her since sharing her interests did help get Kiyo into anthropology like you said.

I haven't seen too many other talents for her, so I'd love to hear what others have in mind for her too!
