Hello everyone.
I haven’t posted in a while and I’m not sure who will read this, but it’s one of those things I have to share just because if there is something I find incredibly annoying is rudeness and impoliteness, especially in the same “fandom”, so to speak.
I’m sure most of Mumfords fan know the Sisters of the Road account, run by women who have the luck to attend like 80% of Mumfords’ shows.
I had the terrible idea to write a DM on Instagram to one of them last summer (I think), she goes by Ditmas_365, I don’t know her name, asking her something like if she felt like sharing one of the picks she had collected. Unfortunately I don’t have that message anymore, but since I’m always polite when I write to people I don’t know, it was something like “I’m sorry to bother you” and “do you mind” and “again, sorry for bothering you”. I maybe even have told her I would have paid for it, I honestly don’t remember. All I can say is that is was a normal polite message. She was completely free to say no or ignore it (she definitely ignored my message), the thing is that like a month ago I found out she blocked me. No reasons. And that message is the only interaction I ever had with her, so I can only assume it was because of that. That was not okay with me. Mostly because I know it’s not some teenager, but some grown up woman and, call me naive, but I had to ask about it.
So, I wrote a message to their tumblr account. No answer. For at least two weeks. (But they posted a lot about the concerts they attended meanwhile).
So, yesterday I wrote again, saying it was unbelievable I still had got no answer.
I found an answer today. It wasn’t Ditmas_365, obviously, I probably have more possibility to talk to Obama at this point, but someone else (who didn’t share her name) told me that she knows Ditmas had a problem with a spammer and she took action. And that as I ponted out they are grown up women with jobs that don’t spend their life of tumblr (hironically, they do to post about all their gigs, but hey.)
And, oh, she told me “some you win, some you lose”. Like, whaaat??! (or even better, wtf?)
The reason of this post, is that I find all this stuff that’s happened incredibly rude. If Ditmas had a spammer, it surely hasn’t my ONE message and the way they handled this is insane.
Bottom line, I’ve never socialised much on tumblr, but I did have the chance to talk to people since 2013 or whatever, and turns out teenagers are way politer than older people. (Not a general rule, obviously).
I decided to go public with this thing, just because. Because rudeness isn’t something people should get away with, especially people who are old enough to know what politeness is.
Me out.
