Redesigned Sisu. Was looking forward to the movie before I saw the final design and it made me sad :(

they sanded her down so much its crazy!

anyways this was a fun challenge, trying to design a southeast Asian dragon to appeal to Disney and look feminine to western audiences while still maintaining as much southeast Asian influence as possible (have you seen their mythological creatures?? they’re wild and I fucking love them but they would probably scare most children).

but yeah had fun and my designs not perfect but I at least improved her I recon. she got an expressive moustache now. something Disney big time missed out on

I saw Raya and the Last Dragon the other day and I was inspired to do a more stylized take on Sisu. I just adore the visuals in the movie but to me Sisu felt too out of place. 

My first proper attempt with gouache, painted on brown watercolour paper!

THEY ABSOLUTELY WASTED AND RUINED THIS OPPORTUNITY. IVE NEVER SEEN SUCH AN AWFUL DRAGON DESIGN??

An absolute disappointment, so obviously i had to redesign sisu myself. I combined the Concept art, balinese and thai dragons.
