Okay but am I the only one who thinks that the pretense of Agni Pravesh was more about Sita maa following her Raj-Dharma than it is about Shree Ram?
She was going to be the regent of Ayodhya alongside Shree Ram (the Queen was not a ceremonial title but came with a ruler's responsibilities) and Raj Dharma dictated that a regent should prove their worthiness to rule to their subjects. Her strength at having stayed strong after spending an year being coerced by Ravan was at stake, and if not proven, would put her Raj Dharma in question.
A lot of people realise that Sita Maa saying harsh words to Shree Ram when he refused to take her to vanvas (even though she could read his mind and knew that the reason he refused was out of care) was her setting the stage for him to do his dharma, people tend to not apply the same logic at Shree Ram (who could also read her mind and knew of her virtue) saying harsh words to Sita Maa to set stage for her to follow her Dharma.
Maybe it is because majority of Ramayan is from Shree Ram's Pov, including this scene, but Ramayan is also called Sitacharitam for a reason.
