Genos the guardian

One of the most defining traits of Genos is that he zealously guards civilians and the people he's closest to, most of the time without even heeding himself or the damage he takes in the process as he relentlessly pursues victory over the enemies he faces. Be it Sea King or the malformed Psykorochi or even cosmic Garou, this trait is as deeply rooted in him as his cybernetics are.

However lately Genos has been presented with a dilemma; how does he protect his master from unsavory people who show interest in him? How does he protect his sensei's interests?

Unfortunately for Genos, he's become a fair bit overbearing at times and even jealous, such as when he's jealous over Saitama's new dog named Rover.

He pointedly commands Forte, Saitama's then neighbour, to vacate his apartment because he would be moving in and installs a hole he can fit through without consulting Saitama or Hero association first if it's okay to have this breach in privacy in the dorms and according to Sitch, making alterations in the dorms needs authorization first. (Chapter 196: Ninja village)

Saitama is clearly not ok with when Genos keeps using the peephole he made to join conversations he was excluded from, in chapter 193 and chapter 196 respectively.

Even Sitch is not too happy that Genos has made himself quite unapproachable with how headstrong he is and how zealously he guards Saitama's interests, not even letting Flashy flash have an audience with him and devolving it into a fight in front of Saitama's door, after which Flashy calls him a dog and let's face it, Genos guards his master like a hound from hell. (Chapter 193: Worlds I know nothing about)

Nobody was happy to hear Genos sing praise about Saitama for 4 hours straight either in chapter 173: Secret intel.

Saitama on the other hand, clearly wants bit of his own space and breathing room from Genos when he said his apartment is too small for them both, because having Genos's presence near 24/7 and him constantly making notes about his daily mundane life has hit that awkward stage of being too intrusive. (Chapter 186: Turning point)

I applaud Saitama for sticking to his guns in not allowing Genos to move in, but at the same time, you have to give Genos credit in finding ways how to be included in everything Saitama does.

But in doing what he's doing right now and being so overbearing, Genos risks alienating Saitama, Sitch and Hero association as a whole. Even the number one hero Blast does not seem to be too impressed by his conduct. (Chapter 197: Karma)

There will no doubt be some kind of backlast for Genos being too intrusive someday, whether it be from Hero Association or Saitama putting his foot down. As funny as his peephole is as a concept, it's still an intrusion to privacy.
