ok if Leahy is an idiot who doesn't know what he's doing.... what if the foundation doesn't know about his personal army project? It would be impossible to know if the anomalous spawns could be controlled or what anomalies that'd have. So much risk 👀

Very high risk-unknown reward. The dude is desperate. The O5 have given him more leeway and responsibilities than the typical site director simply because of the nature of Site-20.

(Gonna go into a lore rant and explain a little bit why Leahy is the way he is, there are reasons behind his actions. A lot of it has to do with the site and the O5's expectations)

Disclaimer: Site-20 doesn't firmly exist in "canon" so I adopted it as my own

Site-20 an experimental facility meant to negate all of the mistakes of Site-19 through various security measures, and the fact the different containment zones are separated from each other by physical distances. All of Site-20 is underground, and you can only reach other zones by skybridge, which can be retracted/destroyed during breaches. Only SCPs that can levitate/float/fly can breach the zones, and those can be contained/destroyed by various defensive weapons that are activated during breaches. Think anti-aircraft guns, but for anomalies.

There are other automated containment measures that go into place during a breach that are tailored to the most dangerous and unstable SCPs. Many of these measures will incapacitate and destroy any biological entities in the area, including any unfortunate staff caught in it. Most staff aren't even aware of these measures--that if the system wanted to, it could flash vaporize entire wings of Heavy Containment. This site wasn't built to prevent breaches, it was built to stop them with brutal finality.

Take a facility like that, the O5 is going to want to put in a site director that doesn't shy away from using unpleasant methods. So Leahy has this lethal facility that could kill a fraction of his staff at any given moment, including himself, and then on top of that, the O5 also says "hey btw, here's 682 and a way to kill it. Don't fuck it up."

He fucks it up. Has to lie about it to cover his ass, and now he's got a staff member who can negate the effects of SCPs? Of course he's going to speed run experiments and programs on her. He's on a countdown timer. Either there's going to be a massive breach someday, and most of them die, or 682 is going to break out, in which case all of them die.

So yeah, he's an asshole, but the O5 Council aren't there to save anyone. They put the guy in charge, and they may not know everything he does, but nothing we've seen so far would shock them. They wouldn't care about Reid, only how useful she is.

(I know on AO3 I have tags that say "the Foundation does some highly unethical experiments, even the O5 would be scandalized" but that was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. They're the O5 Council, they don't give a shit)

Leahy is a product of the Foundation's policies and history, and it's not an error that he's the Site Director of Site-20.

who’s the minxy beast in ur new header brother

LAMPREY!!! HE'S MY SCP OC!!! SITE 20 BAYBEEE!!!

The header in question. Hes a byproduct of SCP-8761 (something i made not the actual 8761 if its even been filled yet), and he works in Records and Communications. He doesn't remember a whole lot about himself, but he doesn't seem to care all that much anyway.

Him (orange) and the two he finds himself paired up with all the time for exploration missions. The purple on is MTF Agent Jun (call-sign Kitsune) and the blue is Kestrel (one of Lamprey's boyfriends, works in medical)
