🎸 six strings : the sequel - rockstar gojo x reader
summary: you think gojo’s forgotten about you, after all he’s the guitarist of the most famous band - six strings - the same band you pushed him to pursue with his best friends shoko and geto. he got it all, the band, the fame but lost you in the midst of pursuing this passion. however, after encouragement form bandmates, maybe your story isn’t finished.
wc: 5.1k | part one. angst, happy-ending, sukuna x reader (involves emotional cheating on both ends), gojo rightfully rocks sukuna, playlist to listen to: 🎧 | series masterlist
Author’s Note: I just want to firstly thank everyone who loved part one of Six Strings, I was not expecting it to be as big as it got. Thank you! I want to apologise for delays about part two and apologise if my writing/ the direction of part two isn’t what you wanted -- it is a happy ending though. I know the cheating trope isn’t ideal, however it is used as a plot device to make the ending more fruitful. I originally intended for the fanfic to be a one-shot, so creating a sequel was a bit difficult for me. Nonetheless, I do hope you enjoy reading what I have written. Also, please ignore my horrible editing skills. Thanks. I love you.

This one’s for you. You know who you are. I love you.
That’s all your mind has been replaying non-stop this past week ever since Glastonbury. Was it sheer delusion to think that those words, maybe, just maybe were about you? That even after all this time, the dorky boy who you’d share vanilla lattes with was still not over you. You try to erase all those juvenile feelings, you were, and are just a girl in the crowd to him. You’re not in his solar system anymore.
You’re still immensely shocked your friend was able to get you tickets in the first place. A silly part of you wants to believe it’s because of faith that wherever Satoru Gojo is, there you also are. That you’ll find your way back to each other in the end.
You pull out your phone, and onto spotify you click the link to Six String’s latest single. The song, allegedly, about you. That is until your short lived listening experience is interrupted by a piercing phone call ring from your friend.
“I found you a guy! Well…he’s friends with the guy who got me Glastonbury tickets, so do me a favour and go on a date with him, okay?” says your friend, determination laced all over her voice.
“Who’s the guy?” you reply, unamused and familiar with her antics.
“Sukuna, he’s a personal trainer…abs for days and a whole lot of money from a mysterious income stream,” she says, giggling in between each word.
Any amount of common-sense you had wanted to shut this down, but your friends' cute laugh and determined gesticulations made it almost impossible.
Sukuna? She wants you to date that irresponsible nut case? Known for changing girls more than he changes clothes. The things you do for the people you love.
“I’m in”.
── ⟢ ・⸝⸝
The next evening Sukuna picks you up in his car, messaging you that he’s here and keeping his seat comfortable. Sitting and staying in the drivers seat while rocking an awfully cocky smirk. You see, your expectations for men weren’t here nor there, but you would’ve at least appreciated some sort of noble act.
Sukuna turns down the sound of Kanye West saying he has 99 problems. His car is all black, and cold leather. No sign of personality present in any inch of the automobile. Sukuna is wearing a black button up, his hair is styled, and he smells of any cliche manly cologne. In terms of attractiveness and pure appeal, Sukuna is definetly up there with Calvin Klein models with generous amount of substance to his member. Well that's what it looked like to you at least. Your catching print game isn't too proficient.
“Look, I know I'm probably coming off too strong…,” he begins, voice surprisingly indifferent for someone who’s supposed to be so interested in you.
You smile, eyes looking at your lap, never looking at him. Being in his presence feels like a betrayal to Gojo. Gosh, why are you still thinking about him? If Gojo wanted you, he would’ve gotten you. It's as simple as that.
This one’s for you. You know who you are. I love you.
How delusional would you have to be to think that those words were for you, they weren’t. He said that to a crowd of hundreds and thousands. His management probably encouraged him to say it. You’re with Sukuna now, snap out of it y/n, and cease the moment. Carpe diem.
“No, no…I like strong,” you reply, trying to reassure him.
Sukuna smiles, and starts the car. The bright lights and tall buildings make up your vision, all of the fancy cars racing with Sukuna’s and there intensely shaded windows.
Just then, Sukuna turns the radio on. The host’s voice begins.
Hello everybody, I hope everyone is having a fantastic evening. Aren’t the shades in the sunset so pretty? A hollow purple of something beautiful.
I think I’m in the mood for something more serene, something we can look out the window and yearn to. I know you’re probably expecting us to play ‘About You’ for the hundredth time, but we’re going to bring it back in time a bit.
Ladies and gentlemen, Katty Perry’s ‘Thinking of You’.
The song begins playing, you’re not necessarily familiar with it the way you were when you were younger and dancing to Last Friday Night. But oh boy does each lyric sting the more Katty Perry goes on.
You like to believe in the cosmos, in coincidences, that there is a higher universal plan out there. So maybe, just maybe this song playing while you’re on a date with someone new is just that. An omen to what is about to be.
── ⟢ ・⸝⸝
That date ended up becoming the beginning of a surprising relationship between you and Sukuna, who unfortunately became your boyfriend after everything that happened.
He did what any boyfriend was expected to do. He paid for dates, he held you when you were tired, and he stayed close when you needed comfort. You did what any girlfriend would do in return. You looked after him, you supported him, and you tried to build something steady between the two of you.
Deep down, though, you both understood that the relationship existed more out of convenience than love, and neither of you said it aloud because it was easier to keep moving than to face the truth.
Even while you were with Sukuna, a part of you still wasn’t over Gojo. His memory lingered in the secret gardens in your head, especially when you were alone. You caught yourself comparing small things without meaning to, and every time you did, you felt guilty. You wanted to move on, but the heart doesn’t let go just because life changes. You carried that just with yourself, hoping you could grow to care more for Sukuna, but you never did.
“ I hate these want to be fuckin’ rockstar bands, now i have to personal train one” says your boyfriend Sukuna. He’s physically exhausted after meeting with his new client who he hasn’t stopped complaining about even before meeting him.
You bit your tongue and narrowed your eyes when he told you he was the personal trainer for a Six Strings member. You wanted to ask who it was, he could say either three and get a reaction from you because you were once so close to all of them. But a huge part of you hoped it wasn’t Gojo. How awkward would that be — your current boyfriend hating your ex situationship from highschool to university.
He drops off his gym bag and walks up to you, turning off ‘about you’ just as Geto is talking about missing you on the train. You can smell the liquor on his breath and feminine perfume which is nothing like the icy masculine scents he gravitates towards.
"And I hate people who are disloyal” you tell him, a sigh escaping your lips as you call him disloyal. It’s true, he knows it’s true and regardless of how much of a piece of shit Sukuna is, he would never deny the obvious. That’s what makes it hard - you can’t shame the shameless.
Just like always, he breaks out in a smile and throws his hands up.
“ I can’t help that the ladies want me…plus i didn’t even kiss this one”
You sit there, eyes on him, wanting to yell and scream at him like all the previous times. But you know how the story ends, you go back to him.
So what’s the point now?
What’s next?
You need to leave. And leave quickly. You’ve made the decision, that’s easy. But the action is always the hardest part. It's like knowing you should rip off a band‑aid but hesitating because you know it’ll sting when the air meets the wound.
And everytime your mind philosophises these things you think about Gojo. How he left your life. Gojo never treated you the way Sukuna did. You knew the bond between you and Gojo was something unspoken, something which mere words or emotions can’t explain. Like you are two stars that drift in the same galaxy but never touch, always close, never colliding. Especially not now, not when he’s this big rockstar.
“Get out of my apartment,” you say, surprising yourself. You’re acting on pure impulse here, following the same gut you once told Gojo to follow.
Sukuna’s eyebrows furrow and he fixes up his horrible posture.
“This is your breaking point? After all the horrible stuff–”
“I said get out, Ryomen Sukuna!”
“Okay, Didn’t need to say my full name but I bet you wanted to, so you could feel powerful mm?” he says, voice taunting but instead of getting another word in, you slam the door in his face.
You stare at your hands and then the white walls of your place. Tears well up in your eyes as you say goodbye to the only romantic relationship you’ve ever had, aside from the one with Satoru Gojo of course. Sukuna was nothing like Gojo, something which you had that about countless times whilst still in a relationship with Gojo.
Guilty, guilty your hands were already stained with repentance for emotionally cheating on your boyfriend. But was it really bad when Sukuna was doing you worse? Going out to strip clubs while telling you he’s on campus studying late, forgetting you have his location. Turning blame on you for questioning him.
This was best case scenario for your relationship, ending up on terms where you both detest one another. None of that yearning, none of the 'what ifs'. It's over. But your instincts are unsure.

Geto: I'm so lost on what our next single should be, how the fuckkk are we going to top About You? HOW?
Shoko: We'll find a way...we are the number one band in the world right now, gosh, we could probably release pure silence and it would chart-
Gojo: We're not making music for the charts-
Geto & Shoko: We're making music for hearts.
Gojo tilts his head, amused that they have memorised his musical philosophy, and offended that they are mocking him.
Gojo: How about Sex?
Shoko's bambi eyes grow big and she drops the drum stick she was playing around with.
Shoko: Gojo, look, I don't see you in that way...
Geto nods aggressively, "Look I am into men too, but doing it with a bandmate would be horrible ethically and business wise..."
Gojo: You self-obssessed morons, I'm reffering to the song we recorded...And, also, I'm not exactly into either of you.
Shoko lets out a sigh of relief, and Geto laughs and shakes his head.
Geto: Scared us there...and yeah, I don't see how that's not a bad idea, the lyrics on that one are a bit risky tho...
Shoko: Ugh I wish I had to worry about the lyric stuff when it comes to the band, it would be nice to have internet speculation about that stuff with me but all they do is talk about the love lives of Suguru!
Geto: Don't complain about good things, I would do anything to have these internet nobody's off my dick about who I'm seeing...
Gojo laughs, "Hey! How come I don't have dating rumours..."
Shoko walks up to Gojo, placing her hand on his shoulders, "Toru, babe your paparazzi photos consist of you in digimon shirts and your viral clips are of you explaining space facts...I don't think people exactly think you get play..."
Gojo's eyes grow big with realisation and hurt.
Geto: Plus, I don't think you've really ever dated besides Y/n, no?
Shoko: Touchy subject, Suguru-
Gojo: No, no I haven't. You guys are right. It is peak loser behaviour to write all your songs about someone you haven't spoken to in half a decade.
Shoko: A really pretty, and kind 'someone' though. Without her, there would be no Six Strings
Geto clears his throat, testing the waters and mood of the room.
Geto: Is this a safe space to let you guys know that I saw her-
Gojo: What, when, where, how...
Geto: I think she has a boyfriend though, he was my personal trainer and he was telling me about his girl...didn't take me long to connect the dots that it was y/n, but, he didn't exactly seem to have faith in there relationship and based off his words, niether did she...
Righ there, Satoru Gojo goes through all human emotions possible.
Gojo: We have to release Sex...like now, It's perfect...That guy doesn't take care of her...
Shoko: Gojo, relax, you're shaking-
Geto and Shoko try to calm him, rubbing his back and handing him water.
Geto: Look, I don't even think they are together anymore- He hasn't mentioned her in awhile and was talking about being a bachelor...
Gojo extends his pinky finger to Geto, Geto insantly locks his pinky with Gojo's.
Shoko: Gojo...you need to contact her, this kind of reaction isn't normal...
Gojo: No, we need to release Sex, right now...
Shoko and Geto exchange glances and sigh. They would do anything for Gojo, not just as bandmates but also friends. If this is what Gojo wants, they'll do it. To make him happy.
── Six Strings : Sex ⟢ ・⸝⸝
Six Strings new song ‘Sex’ causes internet outrage as people try to decipher who could inspire such a polarising song. Guitarist Satoru Gojo is the only person credited for song lyrics.
The internet is exploding in theories. Just shortly after, photos leaked of him and a mystery girl from high-school and early university. Half of the internet is intrigued to meet the ultimate muse, the other upset that their chances with Gojo are limited. Let’s see what the people are saying!
This entire era was PR nightmare for the Six Strings members and team. Luckily, there loyal fanbase had there back to defend them and have the streams of the songs do well. One thing was weighing on everyone's minds, but Gojo's - who leaked the photos?
── ⟢ ・⸝⸝
“Open the fuck up, you face tattooed junkie!” yells Gojo, hands banging on the door of Sukuna’s already cheap apartment door. You see, after your breakup with Sukuna, things were financially a bit difficult for him.
Sukuna opens up the door in an instant, not scared of Gojo one bit. A modestly built rockstar versus a total jacked personal trainer on paper was an easy win for the latter, however, underestimating Gojo was a big mistake.
Throughout heaven and earth, he alone was the honoured one. Everything he’s ever wanted, came true, with the exception of you.
“I’m not scared of you rockstar,” says Sukuna, slurring out the ‘rockstar’ to mock Gojo and his occupation.
“You’re forgetting that you’re a personal trainer, we’re both in the same league of vain and gaudy,”
Sukuna bangs the wall beside Gojo’s head, clearly having struck a nerve. But Gojo's mouth turns into a smirk.
“This is cute,” says Gojo, grabbing Sukuna’s hand roughly from the wall next to him, and then placing his other hand around Sukuna’s shirt collar.
“You either own up to the fact that you leaked those photos of Y/n and I, or you’re going to deal with my fist in your face and have my top tier lawyer reason with whatever one your sorry ass hires,”
“I don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about,” replies Sukuna, a tone surprisingly defensive.
Just then, Gojo’s knuckles meet Sukuna’s face.
“That’s what I’m fucking talking about.”
“Dude, what the fuck– Yes! Yes I did! So now what? I was mad that my ex girlfriend kicked me out and even more mad that you were her ex!” replies Sukuna, still trying to gather himself from the contact.
Gojo grabs Sukuna again, making him meet his eyes.
“You better lawyer the fuck up, asshole” replies Gojo, then drops Sukuna on the ground. Exiting his apartment that he barely entered.
── Satoru Gojo's Journal Entries⟢ ・⸝⸝
1:
I had a meeting with a record label. It went well. So pumped.
However, all I can really think about is if Y/N would be proud of me.
Haven’t messaged or called her in awhile, probably should. Hoping she won’t mind.
2:
In Norway right now, to film a music video for Heart Out. Y/n and I used to talk about visiting here when we were learning History in high school. I wish she was here, but I can't call her because of management. I wonder if she found someone else. I fucking hope not.
3:
Got a call from dad, he was giving me the usual lecture about how being a musician isn’t a stable career and that I should go back to university. But I have faith that the new album will be phenomenal. I just know ‘About You’ will hit people in the heart, give them some kind of comfort about longing for someone.
When I wrote the song, I was imagining two people meeting for coffee. It was a rainy day and the other was looking at the raindrops catching up to each-other. While they’re waiting, they get lost in a day-dream. Thinking about all the possible things they could talk about.
I would imagine one person saying, “Really? Do you think I have really forgotten about you?”. I hope there are people out there who can relate to this and I’m not the only idiot out there stuck on the possibilities and ‘what ifs’. I hope that could be me and Y/n one day.

Shoko: Gojo you're so lucky you that we're famous because oh my god that encounter with Sukuna could've led to the end of our band!
Gojo: I don't care.
Geto taps his pencil on the table, while Shoko lights her 3rd cigarette. The atmosphere between the three is tense, however, Geto and Shoko love to humour themselves. It's a full circle moment really -- Gojo, the heart of the band, getting caught up in a scandal where he punches the girl he's been in love withs ex-boyfriend.
The same girl who niether of them have had contact with for the past however many years, until today. Although the punch was 100% justified, Six Strings reputation was sure in danger. A dating scandal? A potential battery? It was as if the king of curses had it out for them.
Geto: So, Romeo...are you going to contact her?
Shoko: Please do. The quicker she can give you the true love's kiss, the sooner this soap opera ends...and less likely Chanel is to drop me from their ambassadors list.
Gojo: I think she needs space--
That makes Shoko livid, she puts down her cigarette and walks up to him. Her eyes meet Gojo's and he steps back a little, unsure of what Shoko is about to do or say. Geto clears his throat and loosens his tie.
Shoko: You don't know anything about her Gojo. You haven't spoken to this girl, in what...how fucking long? Last time we all spoke to her we were all in University majoring in things we didn't like. She would come to our practices with all these snacks and words of encouragement, telling us we'll be the best band in the world. She was our first fan, probably the reason why any of us had faith that we'd even be this big, and now niether of us even speak to her.
Gojo: You guy's can contact her--
Shoko: No, no we can't. I think you're forgetting what you told her when announced we were dropping out because we got signed. You left that poor girl all alone in the dark, told her you needed "mental space" and stopped replying to her texts.
Gojo: I had my reasons!
Shoko: We know you did, but nothing justifies leaving someone in the dark, especially not when they are the sole reason you're pursuing what you are right now.
Geto: Uh...not to be that person, but what were your 'reasons' here exactly Gojo..
Gojo stares at the two of them, Shoko and Geto both an arms distance away from Gojo while he's in a corner by himself. He lets out a deep, long sigh.
Gojo: She was too good for me, you both always told me that. I figured if I took her along with me to all these famous events, it wouldn't really be her thing...
Geto: Did you ever ask her about this...?
Gojo: No-
Shoko: Nope, not once. Look Gojo, whatever mental struggles, inferiority, baggages from your parents you have is reason enough. We both understood why you acted that way, but you should consider her feelings too. No amount of songs you've written about her will ever help communicate to her that you like her, if you don't...you know, actually speak to her.
Tears well up in Gojo's eyes, his actions all dawning upon him. Geto and Shoko both go up to him, Geto rubbing Gojo's left shoulder while Shoko rubs his right to calm him down.
"I messed up, I messed up really bad...," says Gojo, voice cracking and chest heavy.
"Go speak to her Gojo," Shoko and Geto say in unison. Geto grabs out his phone, and forwards Gojo a number.
Geto: Look, don't ask me how I know this, but this is her number okay, message her, ask her to meet up. Like right now, please
Gojo wipes his tears away, and breaks out in a smiles. "Thanks you guys, really love you..,"
"We love you too".
── ⟢ ・⸝⸝
It's far past an appropriate hour, but your phone buzzes, and something in your gut is telling you to look.
You're half-convinced you've been scammed and half-convinved you've just shifted timelines. You, and Gojo, will meet tomorrow at some overly priced Japanese style coffee shop. Go to bed Y/N, this is a very creative yet cruel dream. Screw you subconscious.
── ⟢ ・⸝⸝
Gojo's shaking his left leg like a madman, meeting you is making him more nervous then any large crowd he's ever had to perform for.
How do you look like now?
Is your hair longer?
Is the sparkle in your eyes still there?
The café door opens, revealing your frame in a distance, and by pure love-sick instinct Gojo gets up, walking over to you. He precisely chose a café in a high-profile area, where everyone was likely unimpressed by the fact he's Satoru Gojo or too famous themselves to care.
His eyes can't stop fixating on you. Gosh, you look so beautiful.
"Hey-"
"Hi-"
You both stop yourself on the introduction as you realise you're speaking over each other. You constantly reminded yourself before this, that you won't fold easily, that you needed to be stern for all that he's done, but it's so hard to stay mad when you look into his eyes.
The same eyes, Satoru Gojo, the rockstar hides behind in glasses with. You can finally look into them, after all this time.
As Gojo pulls out a seat for you, you can't help but notice his incredibly shaky hands.
"You're the celebrity here, shouldn't I be star-struck meeting you..."
Gojo begins to open his mouth, but instantly stops, he wants to say the right thing and make it up to you. Instead he just awkwardly smiles. Still, after all these years, he's the same dork with the same boyish grin.
"I'm...umm--," he begins, but stops again, he brings out a letter from his pocket.
"I was going to say something to you, but I think I'll just end up being a sttuttering mess, so please, just please read this," passing you a tidy piece of paper written in red ink.
You nod, and take the paper from his hand, both of your fingers brushing against each others. Sensual, lingering yearning. You open the page.
I keep finding myself returning to this image of rain sliding down a window, in these strange, wandering trails that drift and merge and chase each other as if they’re trying to understand where they’re meant to go. And I suppose I’ve been holding onto that image because it reminds me of the way my thoughts behave whenever they circle back to you, which they have done relentlessly, insistently, almost obsessively. From the moment I walked away and pretended I was doing something brave instead of something deeply, unforgivably cowardly.
I used to imagine us sitting in some quiet café, the kind with fogged glass and the smell of burnt espresso hanging in the air, and I would picture you watching the raindrops with that faraway look you always had when you were thinking too much, while I sat across from you rehearsing conversations I never had the courage to start, and even now, years later, that scene feels so vivid that it’s less a memory and more a place I keep returning to.
I want to stand here and tell you that I left because I was ambitious or driven or destined for something larger than the life we were building. But the truth is far less flattering and far more painful, because I left out of fear, and that fear was carved into me long before you ever touched my life. Shaped by my father who told me repeatedly that I would never be enough, never be great, never be anything more than a disappointment who mistook attention for love, and I carried that voice into every studio and every stage and every moment where I should have felt proud. Instead I felt like an imposter waiting to be exposed.
When you loved me, I didn’t know how to hold it without feeling like I would break it, so I did the only thing I knew how to do, which was to run before you could see the parts of me I was convinced were unlovable, and I told myself that leaving was noble or necessary or somehow the right thing, even though deep down I knew it was nothing but fear dressed up as purpose.
I thought fame would drown out the insecurity, and I thought the noise would replace the ache, and I thought that if enough people screamed my name, I would finally believe I was worth something, but none of that happened. Instead every song I wrote became a confession I was too afraid to send you, and every city I played in felt like a place I wished you were, and every night under stage lights felt like a punishment for choosing the world over the one person who ever made me feel like I wasn’t performing.
When I stood at Glastonbury with the crowd roaring and the lights blinding and the air vibrating with everything I thought I wanted, I realised that I wasn’t talking to them at all, because every word I said was meant for you, and every lyric I sang was a message I hoped would somehow reach you. Even though I was the one who severed the line between us, and in that moment I understood that the person in the café, the one watching the raindrops and asking, “Really, do you think I’ve forgotten about you?”, was always you, and the truth is that I never forgot, not for a single day, not for a single breath, not for a single moment where I pretended I was fine without you.
I don’t want the fame anymore, and I don’t want the noise or the interviews or the endless cycle of pretending I’m someone I’m not, because none of it means anything when the one thing I actually wanted is the thing I threw away. I want the life I walked out on, the mornings where you sat across from me with your hair still messy from sleep, the moments where you loved me without asking for anything in return, the version of myself that only existed when you were near.
I am not asking you to erase the years I ruined or pretend I didn’t hurt you, because I know I did, and I know I don’t deserve forgiveness simply because I want it, but I am asking for a place in your life again. Even if it is small and fragile and uncertain, because I would rather have a fraction of you than a world that never felt like mine.
I am standing here now, not on a stage and not in the sky, but on the ground where I should have stayed with you, hoping that you might still hear me.
— Love, Toru
Your mind, eyes, chest are all feeling millions of emotions. However, one thing is certain, you missed Gojo. So much. You're still staring down at the letter, trying to calm and compose yourself before getting up and looking at him.
He clears his throat, sweaty hands rubbing against each-other. A gesture so gross, it could only mean love.
"Gojo, I-," you begin, and his eyes instantly light up, he moves his seat closer to yours.
"I wish I had a pen and paper too, because I don't have it in me to say a coherent sentence without yelling or crying at you. I am so mad, but more than that...I am so glad I am speaking to you right now,"
Gojo lets out a nervous laugh, fingertips linger on your lower lip, soft fingers tracing lines, blue eyes looking deep into yours.
“Can I?,” he asks.
You nod, and instead of kissing your lips, he kisses your tears.
"I'm, so, so, Sorry Y/n, "
You don't responf for a moment, you just stare at him, and after a few seconds, you do the only thing you've been wanting to do all these years-- you kiss him.
And now you’re not part of the crowd anymore.
You’re part of his life.
And he’s not part of the sky anymore.
He’s right beside you, grounded because you’re there.
And god, it feels so, so sweet.
