Just arrived, a 1952 Gibson SJ-200 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar Formerly owned and played extensively by Dave Dudley!⠀ In the annals of country music, Dave Dudley occupies a special place. His 1963 hit recording "Six Days on the Road" remains the definitive truck driving anthem, and is credited with launching "Trucker Music" as a distinct sub-genre of American country. The song has since been covered many times, and is still a bar-band staple all over the world today. ⠀ ⠀ Dudley had more sizable hits, including "Truck Drivin' Son Of A Gun" and "The Pool Shark"; by the late 1970s, he had amassed 33 Top 40 Country hits. His career slowed after that, but his legend remains intact, especially tied to his first hit song and the "Truckin'" genre in particular. Six days on the road || Alaric & Faith

               Two days out, straight through from Kansas to their old stomping ground because, apparently, there are Jersey Devil wannabes as far up as Boston. Took three days to do the job - track it, pin it and turn it back into a dork who doesn't know not to do business with a guy who calls himself 'The Collector'. Put the pedal to the metal to get back down the coast.

Now it's done and they've said exactly nothing to each other from the time they peeled down the gravel drive of the Men of Letters bunker. Just, 'Eat yet?', 'Gimme the map.' and various eye rolls about misplaced phone chargers. Ric does the research, Faith hits things in the face and it works but it's cold and distant and awkward.

      They're just out of Jersey, now, out on the turnpike when Faith (who's decided she's in the driver's seat, specifically because Damon will flip inside out and die like Pacman if he finds out she's been driving his car) starts changing lanes a little more rapidly than she should, taking two of them at a time to cut off a trucker and head for a convenience plaza, "Gonna eat, you want something?"
