Honestly, I think there was some black magic at work in this one. Nakanishi is the most immobile wrestler you'll ever see, is at the end of his career at age 49, and only had one singles match in 2016 prior to this one. Then him and Nagata go out there and put on a match where it seems like they lost 10 years of age? It was insane! He did a superplex, a pescado, and a missile dropkick back to back to back. Such a great match with fans and announcers going crazy at a 49 and 48 year old Yuji Nagata tearing the house down.

I truly think this might be Nakanishis final singles match, so he wanted to go out with a bang, and he certainly did.

If this is the end for TNA(and it certainly looks like it), I hope Billy does try to salvage something out of it. Everyone there seems to think very highly of him, and the company would certainly benefit from restructuring under a new name/new management.

I wonder if that’s part of what his lawsuit is. A kind of hostile takeover of the talent without having to deal with any of Dixie’s debt.

It's frustrating; I know that titles don't mean as much to him as crowd reaction, but they do mean *something* (especially to someone like me who's been waiting to see him hold a title for a long time). Sometimes it seems like he's still trying to feel out what kind of character he wants to be post-Sandow, so his reactions get paralyzed by over-thinking. I think it would do him good to stop trying to "color inside the lines" so much and trust his instincts a little more.

Yeah, he feels very directionless in TNA right now. He’s a character worker without a solid character. He needs to get that sorted asap or people will start turning on him which would be awful to see. I’ve tried to be optimistic about him, but he’s just not particularly well suited for his current role in TNA.

I got a vauge “Nevilles replacement” vibe from him. And with Neville seemingly stuck on Superstars indefinitely, it makes me wonder. :/

I think they are saving Neville until the cruiserweights from the CWC are finished debutting. Still have Akira Tozawa, Noam Dar, Jack Gallagher, Johnny Gargano and Tomassoa Ciampa to debut. It wouldn’t make that much sense to just stick him in yet. Save him for a bit and debut him as a huge deal for the division.

The rules give me flashbacks to Brawl For All, but hopefully that's where the similarities end!

Yeah, it seems like Brawl For All but it actually makes sense in wrestling. The two matches they already had were both great and very well paced. I feel them building to Aron vs Drew for the belt at BFG which will be insane. I hope for big matches they increase it to five 3 minute rounds instead, would just make sense.

Yes!

I knew it! Can’t mistake that face for anyone else. I think he’s much better of in NJPW for now, he’s only 27 and will likely get another chance in WWE if he keeps improving.

It's not what I would have picked, tbh, but if that's the price to pay for seeing him on TV again, I'll take it.

I was hoping he’d just go be Aron Stevens. But no, he’s a dinosaur now. An Aron Rex. God that’s such a silly name. Hopefully his run in TNA is better than his name there.
