viktor zaretsky -- "carnival" (ca. 1985)
"zaretsky was a 20th-century ukrainian artist. as well as his wife, alla horska, he was one of the 'sixtiers.' this is a name given in ukraine to the 1960s group of artists who rejected the principles of social realism with their creativity and refused to let their artworks (paintings, poems, plays, etc.) serve the interests of the soviet authorities" ... nataliia pecherska
"well i've walked these streets in a carnival of sights to see all the cheap thrill-seekers the vendors and the dealers they crowded around me" ... natalie merchant
"and the good samaritan, he's dressing, he's getting ready for the show he's going to the carnival tonight on desolation row" ... bob dylan
"i once worked for the circus, but that's all in the past the deaf ring leader, and ominous clowns, were always good for laughs the parade of wordless volumes written with invisible ink kept me busy until 5 o'clock when i could finally get a drink you'd probably never ever guess but i was sober once long ago and cataloged harvard women down on desolation row" ... al janik
WHAT THE HELLLLLL IS THIIIIIIIIS BULLSHIT???????? HOW CAN YOU GET SM SHIT SO WRONG. click *keep reading* to see what i'm talking about here. really it's just my ranting but it is something interesting i'm just pissed off from the fact that i saw it. this is the shit that you do when you try to find some information about this from some fucking article written by an american who doesn't actually know shit about what was going on there (this is exactly to what sites the link). sixtiers is a uniquely ukrainian term referring to the generation of the 1960s ukrainian young intellectuals that acquired liberal values in the result of being oppressed. calling anybody russian a sixtier is just fucking plain wrong. and saying that there were no hippies in USSR is just lmfaooo THEY WERE THERE just a tiny bit later. not any of them gaf about vysotsky or whoever that is. also just to throw a little bit more water in the fire, i'm sure nobody gaf about fleetwood mac either. the beatles + the rolling stones were at the top if you managed to get them without getting fucking put in prison. this is so fucking stupid you really wanted to lick russian ass so much you didn't bother to do a proper research as in at least read wikipedia. i fucking hate stranger things fans
