The slogan painted on the wall was to tell people that the girls are as good as boys can help with the continue of family generation. You probably heard tragedy happened in China because of “One Child Policy”, most cases were related to baby girls.

Amateur photography: Sizhai
Sizhai (斯宅) is a mountain village located in Zhejiang, China, where most local residents have the same last name for Si (斯). A very rare Chinese family name. All photos were taken and developed by myself from 2011 to 2012 with mostly expired black-and-white films. Some of the scenes included in the slide may have been changed, or no longer there today.
