Second of all, are you talking about this? I’m speaking from experience. I grew up white and Christian, and I did not know Jesus was Middle Eastern until it was explicitly spelled out for me by my friends of color.

And I can imagine people in the white Christian right denying that Jesus was Middle Eastern, just because to them, “Middle Eastern” means Islam, terrorism, and a slew of other racist assumptions.
