“I Needed This”

James was sitting at the desk in their bedroom when Noah called his name from the living room. His eyes flickered from his essay to the open door before he typed out his last sentence.

“James!” His name came again, this time drawn out with a whine. Pressing his lips together, he smiled to himself at the sound of the other boy’s voice. Standing up, he walked out of the room and moved down the hall until he was leaning against the entrance of the living room. 

“You called?” 

Noah was curled up under a blanket watching tv, lazily putting off the stack of textbooks on the coffee table in front of him. His looked over to him with big, brown eyes and a sweet smile. He lifted the blanket and patted the sofa. 

“Come here.” James raised his brow at him. “Pleaseeeeeee?”

Suppressing the flutter in his chest, he gave into the request and crossed the space until he was laying next to him. Noah hugged him, throwing his arms around the older boy. James pressed his face against his boyfriend’s neck, letting himself relax. 

“I needed this,” James sighed, speaking his thoughts out loud. Noah just held him tighter.

Logan Gets A TikTok

Takes place a few days after semi-formal: Wed. Dec 16th, 2020 || 9:49pm

“Logan wants us to do a TikTok,” Noah told his boyfriend while he was on the phone with him. There was a pause on the other end of the line and then there was a hesitant,

“… Why?” 

Noah laughed, as he tucked the phone between his shoulder and his ear, using his hands to move his textbooks to his desk. “‘Cause he’s got one now and he thinks we’re, and I quote, ‘TikTok-able.”

There was another pause. “Is that…good?”

“What are you like fifty?” He teased, jumping back onto his now cleared mattress. “Babe, TikTok’s been a thing for at least a year now.”

“I know what it is,” James assured with a chuckle. “I do have a phone you know— this thing I’m talking to you through?” 

“Hmm,” Noah hummed with a smile. He was getting used to this whole ‘having a boyfriend’ thing. It also freaked him out, how much he liked it. 

“Do you want to do a TikTok?” 

Noah snorted. “No.”

“Good, you had me panicking for a second.”

“Would you have done it if I asked?” Noah asked, propping himself onto his elbows, a surprised grin of amusement pulling onto his features. 

“Probably.” 

“Fuck,” Noah cursed, playfully. “I should have said ‘yes’.”

“What’s Logan doing on that app anyway?”

Falling back onto his back, Noah shrugged even though James couldn’t see him. “I have no idea. I think Sophia made him do it, you know, so they could duet or whatever.” 

“That’s…” he hesitated to come up with a word. “Weird.”

“What? You don’t want to share our love with millions of watchers through short clips of us dancing to annoying pop music?”

“Hmm, let me think of that one. That’s going to be a ‘no’ from me.” 

“Too bad, we could have been famous. TikTok Canada would have been quaking.”

“I hate this conversation,” James declared, but Noah could sense the smile on his face. 

“I’m going to get the app just to piss you off.” 

“I will never trust you with a camera pointed at me again, you do know that right?” 

“You’ll never know when I’ll strike,” Noah continued. “One day you might be plastered on billboards in Dundas Square in one of those TikTok ads.” 

“I’m going to hang up on you.”

“You’d never,” Noah challenged, finding it embarrassing how his cheeks were hurting from smiling so much.

“You’re right, and I don’t like it.”

“Love you, too, baby.”
