what is the purpose of skate guards? can't we use those black things that come with the new skates instead? also how much do skate guards normally cost xxx

Soakers or soft skate guards help soak up moisture and water that could be left on your blades after a session on the ice so your blades don’t rust. Hard guards are for protection and you’ll be able to walk on surfaces that aren’t rubber without damaging your blades. They usually cost about $10-15, so not too terribly expensive. They are a great investment though and I would highly recommend getting a pair of each.

I finally got my skate guards. I got light blue because it reminds me of Victor's eyes....Err I mean, I like light blue... *cough* I didn't want white, and I didn't want pink that turns to purple when cold. These turn green when cold though, and I LOVE green as well! I wish I could put my nation's flag on the side, like Victor, but it's not like I'm representing the USA sports team. That'll be disrespectful, so I might put the peace/pride/ raindow flag. Hmm idk.
