In response to rachelmayhodson, our team sponsor, Rampworx, offer to build our skates for us when we buy them in separate pieces. I'm not sure that they would do it for people from other teams though, you would have to ask! Rampworx are based in Merseyside x
Thanks!
Do you know of anyone in the uk stores or otherwise who would mount them for me?
No, I unfortunately do not. However, you can probably mount them yourself, or if anyone here knows of a place, please let us know!
Hi, Is it possible to mount avenger plates onto reidell boots?
Of course. Any plate can be mounted to any boot.
I was wondering if you had an opinion on the Riedell Vixen setup? I'm trying to replace my current (crappy) skates and don't know what to pick. I do outdoor skating and have interest in doing a derby boot camp later on. For reference, I have a slim foot and weigh 100lbs. Any advice or suggestions on skates would be great.
Please search "vixen" on the website as that will give you an idea of what the vixen package is like.
For other advice, look through the "skates" and "fresh meat" tag as they will both give you more information on package skates and other skates that might work out for you.
If that does not answer your questions or raises new ones, please let me know.
Hi-Are you guys accepting new people to help author the blog? I mount my own skate boots (Riedell 495 w/ Roll Line Variant F Plates and Juke Alloy 88A Wheels, Clay/Plastic Toe Stops & Bones Swiss 7mm Bearings). I'm very familiar with all the different brands, uses and mechanics of protective gear as well as very knowledgable about fine-tune mechanics of skates. thanks!
Hello!
I am not currently looking for other authors, however we always welcome submissions of reviews, how-tos, tips, and anything else you would find helpful for the site. Obviously you would be credited for everything you contribute.
Hey, I've been stuck on Radar Caymans for a year now and I really think it's time to change, I hate these wheels so much. The tread has worn down to the point where the wheels are almost smooth. I'm 5'1 and I weigh about 150lbs. The floor we skate on is like a basic sports hall floor, kind of like polished wood? They cleaned it the other day for the first time in ages and I literally can't skate on it anymore. What would you recommend? I want more speed but more stability x
Anything other than those wheels will be an incredibly improvement. You probably also need something a little softer as well. You don't need aluminum hubs but they might be nice.
If the horrible Caymans are all you've skated on, you should really try out other wheels before investing in a new set. Ask your teammates what they are using and why. You don't have to get what your teammates have, but it can point you in the correct direction.
Hey :3 I've been wanting to start skating for ages now, but only just had money coinciding with good weather so i've decided to get a skate package in order to start. I know I need to get sure grips because i have wider feet, but I can't quite tell if getting Sure Grip GT-50s instead of searching for a Rebel package with outdoor wheels would be a bad idea. What would you recommend? (If it helps at all, I'm about 5'7-8", I'm 145 lbs, and I'll only really be able to practice outdoors).
The Rebels with outdoor wheels is a much better plan. They'll last you a lot longer and should be a lot more comfortable.
However, if you aren't going to be using the skates for derby and jsut light outdoor skating, you might be able to get away with the GT-50s with outdoor wheels for a little while.
