German Kiteboarding Championships 2008
The best German kitesurfers met in Sankt Peter-Ording from July 31st till August 3rd to fight for the German Championship titles. The kites of the 44 competitors were visilble from far away and attracted many thousand visitors to the ample beach of Sankt Peter-Ording on the German North Sea Coast. In the Freestyle discipline the reigning German champion Mario Rodwald from Rendsberg, starting for Segelklub Bayer Uerdingen (SKBUe), defended his title against Stefan Permien from Kiel. Mario held of his contender in both the single and the double elemination. Jan Schiegnitz took third beating Sebastian Bubmann (SKBUe) and Rick Jensen (SKBUe) came in fith. In the women's competition Sabrina Lutz managed to defend her title in a close heat against Nina Schumacher. The youngster's contest was won by Tim Kummerfeld who landed some impressive kite loop handle pass moves in very shallow water, clearly defeating Felix Sorau.
The men's course racing was won by 38 year old Armin Harich (SKBUe), followed by Mario Rodwald (SKBUe) and Stefan Permien. >>
