he is very good at it. it’s very rare that he actually won’t have a smile on his face, and even when his mood has completely tanked, he tends to still keep up the front. he doesn’t like people worrying about him or asking him too many questions, so he’s well practiced in the art of pretending that it’s all okay until he can get somewhere by himself and drop the facade. 

most of the time, it is genuine ( though, he might play it up just a bit; like he always appears really friendly and open ), but if he’s encountered certain things that made him remember his trauma or anything along that line, it’s obviously pretty fake then — a smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes, forced laughter, half-hearted teasing. only people who know him well and // or are pretty observant would really notice his change in demeanor though, since it’s so slight.

jak ALMOST stops kae by kabedon-ing him, his hand leaning against the locker as he blocks the way, his posture somewhat dangerous and aggressive, though his face is the EXACT opposite as he grins a cheery smile. his goal isn’t MUCH, but he ( hopefully ) has enough cash to pay for it. he really isn’t expecting kae to do it for free, but word of mouth pointed him in the direction of this guy.
