Creative Writing Evaluation
Throughout the length of this project, I believe I have performed well, in general I would say my work has always been of a high standard, and I have definitely created pieces that
I will include in my portfolio.
However I believe one element I could have improved was timekeeping, there was a few occasions where, although I may have been happy with the final result, I could have created something far more interesting and of higher quality if I’d used my time better; for example, I may have been able to create a good piece of work the night before, however I
regret not using my time to create an even better piece of work I could be proud of.
This has also effected my sketchbook and final presentation work, with some parts of projects missing and some elements of the presentation (namely having to print on standard paper, due to lack of time to arrange an alternative). As well as not being able to create a printed portfolio, as this is something that I believe often looks far better and more professional than a digital version.
My online portfolio however, I believe is presented well, as I did research how to format and customise the layout and images to suit my needs exactly this includes being able to sort content by module, as well as having the option to view all of the pieces available. I think this went well as I went beyond what was expected in order to complete the task well.
Another thing I believe I must improve next time is the lack of research prior to completing a project. I found I often went with some of my initial Ideas, rather than taking a more considered approach, and researching similar projects first. I found that the projects I did research first (The badge and T-shirt project especially) were more successful than others and as a result I will try and improve this in future.
With that said, I believe the work I have created was consistently of a high standard, as there are very few projects I’d feel the need to redo. This could be due to the fact I wasn’t experimenting enough with different styles, which I believe could be true as a lot of my work this year has been using a very minimalistic in theme and I could have changed styles more, and tried more different things, rather than sticking to what I already know works.
Overall however, I am happy with the work I’ve created in this module, including my final hand-in work, which I think I have handled in a interesting way that suits my style of work better than a traditional sketchbook. I believe that I can improve with changes to my timekeeping whilst doing projects, as this will also aid the problem of not researching enough whilst doing projects. With these things resolved, I then believe I will be free-er to create work more out of my comfort zone.
