Peter KNEW this was a bad idea. How in the world did he somehow manage to convince himself that showing his face in public right now would be ANYTHING but dangerous? The world is against him-- there may be people supporting him, but there are others who want to punch him the second they see his face, or report him to authorities, or just try and shoot him. Things have been...better since he finally allowed himself to see people again. MJ and May and Ned and Happy, all of them supportive, despite Peter’s fears telling him that they’d HATE him now. But everything else...it just feels like it’s gotten worse.
All he wanted was a nice day out with her...it had taken a lot of courage to bring up the suggestion, with the promise that he’d stay hidden for most of it, that they didn’t have to go anywhere OBVIOUS, he’s just sick of being stuck inside. It had gone well...at first. His hand in hers makes a million butterflies fly around in his stomach and it feels as if his heart is going to burst-- for a moment, he even felt normal, but it was all ruined the moment he was spotted. They were forced to run, ending up hidden in a tight alleyway, so narrow the two of them are practically squished against each other. His face had been pale before, tinged red now, but the look of exhaustion on his face is all the same. He grits his teeth, leaning his head back.
Noticing how freaked out MJ looked, Peter feels TERRIBLE. He doesn’t want her to have to run with him every time they want to do something normal. She doesn’t deserve this at all. “I’m...I’m sorry-...I thought-- I thought we could just do something normal, for-- for a little bit, I should’ve been more careful....I-- ...I want it to end too.”
