this might seem a little disjointed, especially for a commissions post, but it is also a post meant to explain my situation, so please forgive me ^_^
my name is zea, i am a 26y/o autistic trans person with chronic pain (hs, sciatica, nerve pain from degenerative flat feet - all kinds of fun!) i went to school for software development and worked as a programmer for a year and a half, but my skills are behind the huge mountain of expectations placed on programmers. i opted to do clerical work earlier this year and took a job at a private defense contractor that took 50+ hours out of my week, only to be fired after 2 months with zero explanation
i really, really cannot do this "real job" thing anymore. I've been working all sorts of jobs since i was 14 years old doing 40 hours a week at a six flags. i have continued to work these shitty jobs that pay next to nothing compared to my cost of living as my pain has progressed
my partner, @teanne, is getting a job here that will likely pay pretty decently, but decent pay is still less than 2x the 1100 a month we pay in rent. i would REALLY like to start selling my art on an hourly basis with a fixed rate - maybe $15-20 with an added 50% of final price for nsfw - because this is the only thing i can do that doesn't put me on the road back to being actively suicidal about the situation we're in
i know there are more skilled artists out there charging far less per individual piece than the rates im considering seems to add up to, so i really hope people will be interested in purchasing art from me
this isn't an official commission post, just one to gauge interest. i can't keep working $13/hr jobs and destroying my body to make barely enough to cover our 1100 rent after taxes, etc. pls leave a tag on this or send me a dm if my art is.something you're interested in buying
